Burt's Bees Renewal Day Lotion SPF 30, Firming Face Lotion, 2 oz

I never thought I would write a bad review about Berts Bees but theres a first/second time for everything. I am BIG on an SPF in my facial lotion so I originally got the 30 but it was heavy, left a white residue, and my face felt greasy while being able to what seemed like layers of skin off my face so I switched to the SPF 15... no difference! The worst part is with this SPF on for a walk today I ended up getting sun water blisters. I love Burts but I do not recommend either of their SPF moisturizers at all! Sadly they are not cheep so Im upset that I wont be finishing either bottle.

With very dry skin, I am always looking for an effective moisturizer, and I prefer to have one that includes SPF. I have really really tried to like this lotion because it seems to do a decent job of keeping my skin smooth. But I just cannot get past the scent. It smells like rotting apples or spoiled apple juice that has been sitting in a warm car for months. I normally don't mind my skin cream having a smell (I love my Burt's Bees night cream with clary sage), but this one actually makes me sick to my stomach. Beyond the smell, the pump is pretty much useless past the second day. Very disappointing purchase.

My biggest complaint about this product is that I was 1/2 way through the bottle when the pump straw stopped reaching the lotion. It is a useless pump, and since the lotion is thick, it won't come out unless scooped. I am literally using a chopstick! It's ridiculous. Aside from that huge issue, and the residue it leaves on my face, this product is fine- I love Burts Bees, but doubtful I'll buy this again.

I agree that the smell is a bit much but once it absorbs into the face you can’t even smell it on your face. And yes the consistency is a bit thick but I use two pumps and it glides on my face and neck easily and absorbs quickly, which I then follow with my moisturizer and oils. But it would be nice if it came in a bottle that was able to use all the product in the bottle and not leave 1/3 out of reach unless you break the bottle lol but overall a nice lovely sunscreen that’s worth it for the protection and benefits.

One day I was walking around shopping and I saw a sign that this renewal firming day lotion was for sale, seeing that it had SPF I wanted to give it a try and I'm oh-so-glad I did... Not only does it hydrate my skin but I use it daily as a protective layer under my makeup and I adore the fresh crisp scent of apple with the soft floral notes of hibiscus. I would buy this just for the smell alone. REALLY great product
