The main top and burner box had been smashed together in packing or delivery. took about five minutes to separate. No apparent damage. The design is nice and in a couple hours the grill can be assembled. Came in ONE box. Recommend two because of weight and the original box dimensions were so large, unable to get through the front door, sooo, had to unpack on the front porch.
This is a very sturdy high quality grill. The castor wheels let the grill move around easily. It has a very nice cabinet to store the tank in. It has a nice temp gauge and a gauge for the propane tank to tell you when your getting low on fuel. This grill cooks very well and evenly and it hasn't burned any steaks yet. The bottom of the grill pulls out like a drawer and makes cleaning a breeze .Without a doubt,It is the best grill i ever owned.
I want to first say I purchased this Char-Broil 2 burner signature series grill. However I bought it on clearance at Wal-Mart for $77, so my review is not biased because it was a free item and I since I also did not pay full price, I do not feel like I need to leave a glowing review to hide any buyers remorse. First off the assembly was not terribly difficult but the instructions were really bad and had nothing but pictures. Sometimes the illustrations of a part was not clearly defined in the instructions and made it difficult to determine what direction the part was to be oriented. I installed one part upside down and later in the assembly process it appeared I was missing a peg. But since I had the part installed upside down the peg was just not where it was suppose to be. I had to call tech support and I will say Char-Broils tech support was outstanding. I was never placed on a long hold and the tech had everything figured out got me back on track quickly. The black parts of this grill seem to have a nice thick powdercoat and I would imagine will resist rusting for a long time. I am really disappointed with the heat produced by this grill. The first time I grilled it was baked potatoes and beef tenderloin filets. I had the grill on high for 40+ minutes cooking the potatoes and I barely got a sizzle when I put the steaks on. I was expecting to sear them. The temperature gage was pegged all the way on high but there was just not the temperature on the grill deck that I was expecting or accustomed to from my old gas grill. I am not sure if this is due to the lack of substance to the grates or grill box, or if it is because the burners are so far from the grates? The stainless steel on this grill makes it look sharp, when it is new and clean, but with just a few months of use and setting outside it looks old and is discolored and will not clean back to the nice look it had when it was new. I have learned that a stainless exterior shows every little bit of dirt and water spots. I don't cover it because I was accustomed to my old grill that sat outside uncovered for 17 years and looked great and never had a problem, untill the bottom rusted and fell out. I do not mind that the shelves do not fold down but I can see how that would be a drawback for some people. I really like the gage for the gas tank, it may not be 100% accurate but I can look at it and know if I have enough gas before I start grilling. The temperature gage works but I do not think it reflects the grilling surface temperature very well and mine still has water in it from the first time it rained. The electric igniter works great and is much better than the push button piezoelectric ignitor type on my old grill. This grill has no locking wheels and the wind blows it around my deck easily. I also really like the hidden gas tank. But now I will tell you why I can not recommend this grill and I am going to replace it soon. The grease pan is directly above the gas tank and when it rains, water somehow gets in the grill and overflows the grease pan causing the grease to get all over the tank and in the bottom of the grill. It is the most disgusting smelling mess I have experienced in a long time. I never had to change or even empty the grease pan on my old grill in 17 years and it hung on the bottom of the grill exposed to the elements. I don't know if my old grill was so hot that the grease evaporated when it hit what they call the "flavorizer bars" that are over the burners, or because of the shape of the inside of the grill just keep grease from draining into the grease pan? All I know is I never had such a mess before and I will not buy another grill where it seems like the engineer that designs how it fits in a box disassembled for shipping, has as much say as the engineer that designs how the grill functions.
I bought this grill to replace a Kamodo style grill and am very happy with it. The stainless steel burners and cooking grates are very good quality. Having the guage which indicates how much propane remains is a nice feature. All in all this is the perfect size grill for a two person household and it works great.
Assembly picture instructions were pretty easy to follow, but you needed some mechanical ability. Fasteners were clearly marked. The parts were not marked at all. Grill itself is exactly what I wanted. Stainless steel firebox should solve the deficiencies with earlier versions.
