This is by far the best bumper I have ever purchased. I wish I would have had it for my first child. My daughter turns 1 this month and we are still using it on her crib. My older son used to wake up screaming in the middle of the night because he would put a leg out thru the crib and was not able to pull it back. This NEVER happens with my daughter. This bumper is practically transparent. You really forget it is there. (It helps that my daughter's crib is white!) I can leave it on with no danger of suffocation. It keeps her arms and legs in while she is sleeping. I can change sheets easily without removing this bumper. I highly recommend it!!! Very easy to install. I think it is impossible for this bumper not to fit all cribs. It has lots of extra length that wraps to the out side and velcros to the bumper.
It would work best if you have a normal sized crib. My crib is a little larger and I had a hard time fitting this around it. I did get it secured though and it does it's job since my son was waking up because he'd stick a foot or arm through the bars on his crib. That no longer happens now with this bumper and we don't have to worry since this is safer than a regular bumper. Seems to work but the fit is not what I would like...could use a few extra inches.
This bumper has really helped my now 7 month old daughter (and me) sleep much better. Ever since she has been able to move around in her crib, she would always end up with an arm, a foot or even her whole leg sticking out between the rails, which would wake her up when she tried to move again. This bumper keeps that from happening while still allowing air flow in case she ends up face first into the side of the crib. It's also a breeze to install, even with the curved corner posts on our crib.
The CribShield is a great idea and safety conscious. However, if you have a larger sleigh style crib, the panels will not be long enough. More velcro needs to be added to keep the panels from sagging. If you have a drop front crib, this product will be great. It needs to be redesigned into one large piece (instead of 2 pieces) for cribs that do not have a drop front. We removed it from the crib and will try having no bumper. If I feel a bumper is needed when the baby arrives, I will try to retrofit this product.
I had read that this product was difficult to use with a crib that had solid ends, but I wanted a breathable bumper and there weren't any other options. This bumper has 2 parts, a long section that is supposed to go around 3 sides and a short section intended to go around the side of the crib that lifts up and down. Since my daughter's crib has solid ends, this product as designed isn't easy to assemble, but I managed to make it work. I would definitely recommend this to someone who has a crib with slats all around. An additional note is that the bumper isn't very padded, so it functions to keep arms, legs and pacifiers in more than as a "bumper" that would cushion a fall.
