Put together in under 10 minutes! Aside from initial charging of the Snapper SC60V 60V Chainsaw (which is 60 minutes for full charge), putting it together was easy-peasy. Simply open the box, undo the two nuts and take the plastic cover off, then you adjust the tension screw with a screwdriver on the chainsaw wrench, put the bar with the chain on and tighten the chain to the necessary adjustment, then put the cover back on and re-tighten the nuts. BAM! Finished and ready to go. The only thing is that the quick-start guide did not mention where to find the wrench, so we couldn't find it in the box and thought that we didn't get one, I had to go and purchase one separately which cost about $4. It was only later when we were looking in the manual did we realize the wrench is actually built into the handle of the chainsaw so it is always with it, hopefully I can take the one i purchased back and get a refund. Also it did not come with bar oil, which is required so you will have to get some of that separately as well. Includes 2Ah Battery and Charger, that it did indeed come with. Its nice that you don't have to deal with the hassle of putting gas in it or having to pull start it. You simply press two buttons and it is instantly fired up and ready to use. WARNING: This chainsaw can not be used outdoors while exposed to any sort of rain as a typical gas powered chainsaw could. It is by no means quiet, however it is definitely much quieter than a typical gas powered chainsaw. It has a very weird mechanical sound when you use it. It handles well, and only weighs 10 pounds (without the battery) so it is fairly lightweight and easy to maneuver. I especially liked it because we have a hill behind our home that has a lot of brush and berry briers on it, and some are too thick for my hedge trimmer to get though (over a inch). This chainsaw works through them like butter. If you are unfamiliar with how to use a chainsaw I definitely recommend reading the user manual as it has very good instructions on how to do so. Overall I think its a very nice piece of equipment and am glad to have it to add to my set of tools.

I was so excited when I received the opportunity to review this Snapper 60V Brushless Chainsaw. There are too many tall bushes and small trees behind my sister's house that need cut down so this chainsaw will work great with no worries with gasoline or an electrical wire. This means that when I am ready to use it, I just need to make certain the battery is ready and check the oil level and the chain tension. The wise thing would be to make certain the battery is recharged after each use so it will be ready when I am ready! After determining that I had received all the parts, I used the battery charger to charge the battery which only took an hour. The con is that I didn't realize that I would need lubricant oil so I had to wait a couple of days to receive it. But common sense should have prepared me. ha ha One asset of this chainsaw is that it oils itself instead of having to push a button to oil the chain and parts. I already had a spout which made putting the oil in the oil bottle so much easier and I did not spill any. Also I purchased a gallon of lubricant because I plan to use this chainsaw and it was less expensive than having to keep buying quarts. Also I wanted to state that this Snapper chainsaw is not heavy or bulky and I found it pretty easy to use for this 64-year old female. It is noisy but I do not need to wear ear plugs like some saws I have used before (in my younger years). Attaching the chain was not that hard once I figured out that it helped tremendously by attaching the chain to the drive pulley before placing the bar against the center alignment groove which is #6 on the Quick Start Guide. This is behind the red chain cover. Then you replace the cover using the two screws but do not tighten yet. Now you are ready to adjust the tension of the chain. The chain should be a little loose and after you first begin using the chainsaw you may need to adjust again before continuing as the tension is probably tight to begin with. Of course, first make certain you have the chain on the bottom facing the correct way (from experience!) I asked my brother to come over to make certain all was attached correctly and he cut down a couple of bushes to see how it works. He said this was a very good chainsaw and I will easily be able to cut down all those other bushes and small trees plus now he knows where to borrow a chainsaw when he needs one!

This is a good reliable piece of equipment. The reason I say this is because it's made by Snapper which is a brand that has been around for many, many, years. It is so convenient to. The reason I say it's convenient is because it's cordless. I never saw a cordless chainsaw before. My husband always uses one with a short cord on it and when he uses it he has to use an extension cord hooked to it. You can only go so far with a cord. You do a little cutting then you have to unplug it and plug it up somewhere else to finish the job. With a cordless chainsaw you don't have to start, then stop, then start again to finish the job. You can just start and keep on cutting until the job is finished. This chainsaw come with a 60V rechargeable battery pack. It only takes the battery about an hour to charge up. It has an LED light indicator on it also that lets you know how much power is left in the battery. When you first plug it up to charge there will be a green blinking light that lets you know that it's charging. When the light stops blinking and it's a solid green, this lets you know that the battery is fully charged. This is nothing but a play toy for my husband. I'm so glad and grateful that I was able to obtain this for my household.

I was a little leary of a battery powered chainsaw but to my surprise I was impressed. First thing was when I found out that Snapper is owned by Briggs and Stratton, the second thing is they use lithium ion batteries which last longer, weigh less and out perform the nickle metal hydride batteries, plus Snapper is first in the industry to use 60 volt batteries, the competition has 58. Snapper says that the chainsaw without the battery weighs about 10.2 pounds, my electronic scale says it weighs 11.8 pounds, and when you add the battery weight of 2.12 the total weight is 14.4 pounds. The weight and balance makes it feel like a gas chainsaw and so for those of you who have operated a gas powered chainsaw will feel comfortable with this chainsaw. I used the saw for a couple of hours then took the battery out to charge it back up and after plugging it in, I realized all I had to do was push a button to see the level of charge, and I read the manual but still forgot. I liked the retainer for the oil reservoir cap, what I didn't like was after filling with bar oil the retainer wants to float, so I put a small stainless steel nut on the string so it will sink. It's nice to have an on board tool to assist with blade and bar maintenance, but I would suggest you get a 13mm wrench along with a screwdriver, they're much more comfortable. This saw doesn't come with a chainsaw file so purchase a 5/32 chainsaw file and bar oil. I wish I had a decibel meter to compare the noise of the Snapper chainsaw but Snapper claims it's 50% less noise and vibration when compared to a gas powered trimmer, I would like to know how it compares to a gas chainsaw. The spikes are a little dull for me but they will be sharpened to my liking, I like it when they can bite into the wood. This motor is a brushless motor which means it's more efficient and has more power, torque, and a longer run time when compared to a brushed motor. The Snapper chainsaw may not be up to cutting multiple cords of wood, but it definitely can help in limbing the fallen trees and help you keep your landscaping in line.

Snapper products have been around for a long time and we were pleased to review the 16 inch 60V Cordless Chainsaw. My husband has several saws but this is the first one that is cordless. Most chainsaws of this type are only 20 - 40 volts so this one has more power. It is relatively light weighing 10.2 pounds without the battery and approximately 19 pounds with the battery installed. The weight of the saw and its balance is good. Read the instructions as there is some assembly needed in installing the guide bar, chain, chain cover and chain cover lock nuts. This saw is great for the do-it-yourselfer. It's easy to start - put in the battery and press and hold the trigger switch to operate. It is so convenient not to have to mix oil and gasoline, yank on the pull cord or get tangled up in an electric cord. Great saw for trimming trees and cutting wood for burning in a wood stove or fireplace. One downer is that when the saw is not in use oil seeps from the saw. This apparently is normal but somewhat of a pain to empty the oil tank after each use. It comes with good warranty with 4 year on the chainsaw, 2 year on the battery/charger and 10 year on the motor. As the saw was just received for review we cannot attest to long term durability.
