Dremel 4000-2/30 120-Volt Variable Speed High Performance Rotary Tool Kit, 2 Attachments & 30 Accessories

Upgraded to the 4000 after my Dremel 3000 had trouble with the collet stop wearing out. I started out in 1989 with a 0ne speed model which lasted at least 15 years with very heavy use - it enabled me to finish my house and remodel my kitchen - cut tiles - make furniture - everything! I still have my router attachment and Flex-shaft which allowed me to do intricate work in small spaces that was impossible with any other tool. My first Dremel one speed also had developed an issue with the collet - which I believe was at least exacerbated by over tightening with the wrench. I sent it in to Dremel and they fixed it but with so much use I burnt out the motor several years later. I decided to upgrade rather than sending the 3000 in for repair - which is costly today. The 3000 also served me well for about 18 years with very heavy use so I was very confident in buying a new Dremel. After ordering - I was shocked to read negative reviews about the quality of the product nowadays and was apprehensive, but after receiving my new Dremel - I am just as happy about it as I have been in the past. I had lots of chores ready to test it out & give it a good workout and it did not disappoint. In fact it paid for itself as I was able to repair two deadbolts that were so difficult to open & close that I had to use pliers! It was a brand new home and apparently the contractor was able to find the only workers who did not know how to install doors and locks. The cost of getting someone to come out to fix them would have been more than my new Dremel so it paid for itself! The Dremel 4000 does not even need the wrench to tighten the collet - only a small twist by hand til the bit is secure so there is less risk of over-tightening and wearing out the stop. I have arthritis in my hands so it does not take a lot of effort to secure the bit by hand. I am still thrilled with my Dremel and can not live without it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't realize how many uses I have found for the 4300 compared to my older single speed rotary tool. The flex shaft accessory make this even more versatile. .I use this tool and some of the accessories almost every day in my workshop.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Like I said in the title it has great features, it has an adjustable slide varying the speed. The flex shaft is very handy you can literally have the shaft in a knot and have it still be able to run. Very useful for fine detailed things. Beeing unable to buy the cable that spins the tip of the bit, after long time use is definitely a downside. The slide for speed change burnt out mine. I may have just got a lemon.
