I am a contractor and I do install TVs and antennas. Average antenna price that I used to install would be $80-$120 plus an amplifier for another $15-$30. So, I just purchased this antenna to see if it would pick up any signal at all. Let's say it was an experiment. Surprisingly, this antenna mounted at the attic was able to get the same 31 channels as $120 competitor and additionally, I didn't have to use any signal amplifier! I am sure that in rural area when signal is weak this antenna wouldn't be a great choice, but for our Memphis area it does the job very well!
Replaced RCA ANT112F rabbit ears with this one and reception is markedly improved. I have it sitting on a box in my attic roughly facing NNE (Salem to Portland, OR) and I am on a hill with pretty much a clear shot to Portland. I receive many channels from 2.1 through 49.1. Assembly and installation was super easy and quick. Signal strength meter on tv had antenna pointed in right direction quickly. I haven't paid for cable since they dropped analog broadcasting. Now I receive more channels than I did with basic cable, just different choices.
After years of paying to much for services from other providers I decided to try going digital. Ordered this antenna and tried it out by just holding it in my hand inside the house. Scanned for channels and it found 21 channels. I invested moderately in a mast and some cable and installed the thing on my rooftop. I rescanned the channels and it picked up 67 channels. Well I was dumbfounded why I haven't had this for years. Nearest transmitters are approx. 70 miles away from my geographical location so it has a very good range. Young man at big box store where I purchased wire explained to me that I would need a signal amplifier at around 50 bucks, Wrong I needed wire. needless to say pleased is not the word for my experience with Eagle Aspen DTV2BUHF Outdoor Antenna, gonna save enough to by me a new TV, go get yourself one today!!
I was disappointed in the number of stations received. My old cheapie indoor antenna that I was trying to replace does a better job than this model. I tried moving it to multiple locations, but gained some quality on some, but lost some quality on others.
I already have one digital antenna and am approximately 50 miles from towers. It requires an amplifier for acceptable reception. This antenna (Eagle Aspen DTBUHF)gets an equal or better signal without the amplifier. I intend to cut my Cable TV Service since I now get all the major networks over the air for free.
