I bought the eTrex 20 because it had more features then the eTrex 10 and the price wasn't all too much more. I will say I used it in the NY Adirondack Mountains and It worked VERY well. I can set waypoints and it is pretty accurate and repeatable. As long as you are not in a car or house, it connects to satellites pretty fast. There is NO Topo or satellite views on this GPS, but you can purchase those separate. After using it on a weekend long hunt in a new area I never hunted in. I am hooked and now will most likely purchase the Northeast Topo card for this GPS unit. Depending on which one I choose from Garmin ($50-$120) I am thinking I could have in the end spent the same or maybe less on another unit with these features already included. I haven't crunched the numbers yet though, so the jury is still out... Good GPS for a beginner to intermediate hiker, hunter, explorer. Very light and small (Not much larger that an older style flip phone cell phone).
Rugged, flexible and reliable for city walking but you have to learn by yourself how to use it, the manual is too short. Garmin maps expensive but you can use OSM instead.
For anybody seeking a GPS to be used in various situations, this is the one. Easy to understand the menu system and step through the options. Thumb toggle is a little sensitive but with little practice it's not that bad. Love it and won't be looking for another anytime soon.
Easy to use and small enough not to be a burden or distraction while hiking. I think the only downfall is the cost of buying extra maps for this unit. A topo map for a Mt. Rainier hike will cost me almosy $100.00.
the unit fits in my pocket. I use it for ridding the back trails on my quad, it always gets me back to my starting point in the shortest time. when loaded with maps of the area I always know where I am. it makes me and my fellow riders feel safe.
