I bought this humidifier over 2 years ago and havent had any problems. I live in Northern Arkansas and we can have some cold winters in January / February. It handles my 1600 sqft house without any issues. Do have to refill the tanks every other day during the coldest days. Never had any problems with it leaking unless I bumped it hard or tilted it to where water spilled out of the tray in the bottom of the unit. The Wemo app works great on the iphone. The lower water alert is very useful. The filter seems to last just fine for me. I'll buy new filters to start running the unit in December into March. You can find the filters here on Walmart.com by searching for "Holmes HWF80-U" or try using this link: https://www.walmart.com/ip/40696523
Best I have had to date. This is a quiet unit that runs perfectly and continuously without fail. The dual tanks are a great design feature that allows filling without stopping the unit and just keeps on trucking. The smartphone app allows me to monitor the filter status and sends me updates if the water is running low. My son hates it when I call him in the middle of the day to tell him he forgot to fill it up...
I have always lived where there is a good deal of humidity--S. California and Hawaii are not exactly dry. When my husband retired we moved to Eastern Washington, and the thing I have had the most trouble adjusting to is how dry it is here. I wasn't sure if this humidifier would make that much of a difference, but it does. At least in our home, the air is not nearly so dry. I wasn't sure what to expect; this is fairly good sized, but not heavy; it's totally uncomplicated to use; it's quiet, low-maintenance, you can set it on one of 5 settings, from minimum to maximum, the instructions are clear and easy to follow, and it has a readout so you can tell what the humidity is set on. It can even be set up so you can control it from your smartphone. I thought it would make more noise than it does, but it's so quiet I forget it's there. All you need to do is fill the two water tanks--top loaded, one on either end--set it, and forget about it. You need to check and change the filters periodically, and the manual says it can run for up to 60 hrs, depending upon the settings and current humidity. We check and refill them before bed at night, so it's gotten to be routine. It is easy to use, quiet, and works; what could be better?
It’s that time of year when those of us in the Midwest pull out the humidifiers and dutifully refill them each day! After reading that a good humidifier will not only help with dry sinuses, cracked lips, bloody noses and more, we learned that humidifiers have also been tagged with the ability to reduce the survival of flu viruses in the air. With two small children in our house, we may very well put one of these whole house humidifiers in every room! All joking aside, we recently received the Holmes Whole-House Smart Humidifier enabled by WeM and set it up near the master bedroom, which is most centrally located to the other bedrooms in the house. The humidifier is wonderful – it was easy to set up, has a large water capacity via two slim tanks and emits a nice white noise sound that is not too loud. It is a fairly large unit, which I’m assuming all whole house humidifiers are, but they’ve done a nice job on the design so it blends in more with your darker woods. I was excited to receive this particular model due to the web enabled capabilities. However….full disclosure…. we haven’t even attempted to connect to the scheduling feature. We live in a very old home without a humidifier on the furnace, so have always run our smaller, room-size humidifiers around the clock. I’ve found that we’re treating the Holmes Whole-House Smart Humidifier enabled by WeM no differently. Ultimately, we just didn’t see the need for the web enabled capabilities. I should say, however, for homeowners in different circumstances, this would certainly be a bonus feature. And, perhaps, we will try to do this in the near future. Overall, I would definitely recommend the humidifier for its basic capabilities, but simply cannot speak to the web enabled features.
Dry winter weather can make life a bit uncomfortable. The air is full of static electricity and my skin requires extra moisturizing. The dry air also plays havoc with my sinus system, especially during the night. These are just a few of the reasons I’m happy to share my experience with the Holmes Whole House WeMo Smart Humidifier. The Holmes Whole-House Smart Humidifier is large enough to cover a 2500 square foot area yet small enough to fit well in almost any room. I‘m seriously amazed at the difference it makes with the air in our home. The controls consist of user-friendly buttons that include WeMo. What is WeMo? WeMo is like magic. It lets you virtually be home while not actually being there. It works with any Apple smart device using iOS 7 or higher or Android smart device using 4.0 or higher. Download the free WeMo app onto your device(s) and you’re ready to control your Holmes Whole House Humidifier while out and about. The Holmes Whole House Humidifier has two easy-to-access water tanks conveniently located on each side of the top of the humidifier. Each tank holds 2 1/2 gallon of water. They are effortless to remove, fill and replace. If your tap water is very hard it’s recommended that you use treated water. We have soft water so we filled our tanks straight from the tap. You can monitor the life of the filters on your WeMo app. How cool is that? A bit like George Jetson, don’t you think? Live in the future now!
