Hyper Tough 1000 Lumen LED Solar Motion Detection Security Light

Bought this light an DC installed it and it hasn't worked yet. It's been about 3 weeks.

I was very surprised at how bright these were. I even ordered more I was so happy with them

First I installed the unit, then read the directions, and then followed the directions. I am very mechanically inclined and usually can install things without directions. The light worked before the install so I installed it...then it failed and I was ready to give the light one star, uninstall it and return it. Now I decided to read the product reviews, about 50/50 5 star/1star with all the 1 stars saying that " the light doesn't work". Just like it did for me, but I asked myself why did it work out of the box and not work now? Time to "follow the directions". Which states to charge the batteries for 3 days with the light on the "off" position. Okay I will do this now. I decided to not mount the unit to a building and instead hook it up and charge the batteries in the yard in sunlight. This is where I found a small problem. I noticed that there is a small o-ring on the solar panel connection to the batteries. When I first plugged this in, I thought it was connected, but I was wrong. The o-ring was giving some resistance to the connection, not allowing the connections to connect. Now I pushed the connection together very tightly and this unit that was "defective" was in perfect working order.

What a day it has been. 1st some jerks attempt to break into one of my cars that is parked on the street while we are dealing with a kid that has gone full exorcist and is spewing yesterday’s breakfast. Next I decide I need better lighting and nothing is open expect Walmart. I pick up two of these bad boys so I can get them mounted ASAP. I unpack both, put them on my kitchen table and test one, perfect it lights up! I test the second, nada, zip, zero ... no lights, we whatever it’s night and these are solar powered so 1 is better than none and “the sun will come out tomorrow”. I start getting my tools ready to put these up and, much like Paul Wall when he smiles, illuminate the dark. Suddenly there arose such a clatter it sounded as if state himself was knocking. I run back to investigate, because much like a scary movie, I have little sense of self preservation, and I find that the light that would not turn on had exploded left what looks like the dust Thanos snapped everyone in to. For the safety of you and your family, get better lights than these things. Luckily no one was near them when they went off like an ied. These go back tomorrow morning when Walmart opens. I’ll hop down to a big box hardware store and get some hardwired, better quality lights.
