I have found it needs a bit of redesign as well. The cover does not fit easily or securely on bowl. I have the scale and sieve attachment, this is very awkward to use as the cover pouring funnel is in the wrong place to be able to fit the shield as intended under the mixer head. I have to place it sideways so that the sieve chute can fit in the poring shield funnel. This means this means the shield gap is to the side of the bowl , not under the machine head. This is one of the times I most need the cover, sieving dry ingredients slowly into a mix. The cover does not fit onto the bread bowl, I expected it to be interchangeable and fit on both. I do like how easy it is to pour wet ingredients into the mix through the funnel. Just a shame I have to hold cover in place with my other hand
Although this product helps stop ingredients (such as flour) from flying out of the bowl, because it does not have a tight seal, it does not stop this completely!
I have had my KitchenAid a couple of years now and I love everything about it except the useless bit of plastic called a “pouring shield”. It's flimsy, ill-fitting, does not keep ingredients in the bowl and is useless for adding ingredients. Major design flaws and the machine itself is worthy of better.
This is terrible!! Doesn't sit on right as the weight of the well ramp makes it fall. Doesn't shield the back and batter and flour etc still fly out making a mess (used on lowest speed too) Should at least clip on. Is very flimsy and feels very cheap.
Pros: Can stop light splashes. Cons: Weak flimsy plastic construction. Ill fitting on the bowl where it's a bit loose. Overall: It feels like a cheap piece of plastic that can break easy. When placed on the bowl it don't feel secure and too loose.
