I was pleasantly surprised that there are no tools required, unlike most products. Many advertise no tools, but require the use of included wrench or other tool. This product does not require any tools and is very well designed. No screws, nails, bolts or other fasteners. It is very sturdy and is easily configured for use with a laptop or desktop computer. The design allows for a calendar, dry-erase board, corkboard, or photos to be placed on a wall in the opening at the back of the desk (between the shelves) if used in the laptop configuration. I recommend to any parent for their daughter.
