As mentioned by others, this is a street legal track tire. Don’t expect high mileage given the compound. When at the proper temp they stick like gum! Love it. Expensive, but worth the extra grip in the corners. 4 track weekends and 3,300 miles, they are slicks now. Just not sure how far to go as the wear bars don’t mean much on this type of tire but some holes/dimples on the outer tread blocks would be great to better gauge compound remaining.
I have never put this much trust in a tire. That being said for on road use they are to sticky to the point they will roll small stones onto your windshield. Hate to look at my rockers. They come stock fro factory. Big rubber. 305/30ZR19. There is always a give and take with this type of tire. Thinking of going to sport pilots and hope for the best knowing the name “Michelin” ? I have a 2019 Mustang PP2 with 5700 miles and pretty well shot. I do not track the car.
I see a lot of negative reviews on this tire for thread life. It’s a 180 thread ware (and that’s being generous), what do you expect?? Like a previous reviewer has said, it’s not for daily driving. It’s for the track and getting to and from the track. And at that job I find it terrific. I’ve had this tire on 2 GT3s, a GT4 and a C6 Z06. I’m presently building a track day S2000 and that’s what’s going on it. Sure there are less expensive , more « durable », sticky tires like the Potenza RE-11 (loved it!) and the Hankook RS4 (it’s fine!) but none give you the solid feel and grip of this tire (maybe except the Trofeo R but never experienced myself, and worst wear caractiristics).
They are an amazing tire I bought them in August for my 350 Z I’ve driven about 5000 miles on them (now January) and they already need replacing wires are starting to show (I have never drifted on these) I have launched the car maybe four times which causes a little bit of tire spin but almost instantly grips so there’s no way that these tires should wear out this fast
I've read a lot of negative comments about this tire. I'd like to offer my thoughts, a consumer should always educate themselves about a product before purchase. I see many comments placing fault on the manufacturer for a specific product not meeting the consumers expectations. Researching a product before purchase is the consumers responsibly. The Cup 2 tire is NOT an every day tire. The manufacturer clearly states this, and DOESN'T recommend it for such use. But if you're racing SCCA or Trans-Am This is the tire to have. And yes, the tire is good for one race... Sorry that's just the nature of the beast.
