Love that I can use hard candy and even sugar free hard candy, making a small batch of cotton candy. You do have to preheat the machine 10 minutes before adding the hard candy per the instructions. This does make a small cone, so if you are looking for a full cone of cotton candy, this is not the machine.
I really like this machine. So it says that you can use hard candy. I used jolly ranchers the 1st time and it was not like cotton candy. It turned hard fast. I was very disappointed. I was going to get sugar floss but I live in a very small town and it was going to take days to get it, not to mention the cost. I saw that you can make your own with sugar, extract, and food coloring. Now this was cotton candy. Soft, fluffy and good! It was worth testing out and my kids love it and love making there own. We will be using this a lot!
I've never made cotton candy or anything similar before, and using this was so easy! It helped watching YouTube videos online how to do it. The only downside to this machine is worrying about the sugar getting inside the heating element, it would've been possible to build it so it could cover it more. I didn't find in the manual that you could take it apart though! I had to look that up too, but I love this machine so much, especially for the price! Jolly Ranchers worked AMAZING in this, best cotton candy I have EVER tasted EVER!!!
Bought this for my kids on Valentines day. the machine works great. The instructions say have it heat up for 10 minutes before adding flossing sugar. the timing seems correct because once I add the sugar it begins webbing and making candy. We have made them multiple times and it's always a success and way more flavorful than cotton candy we have bought at amusement parks. I haven't tried using hard candy so I can't review that. I think this is a great buy if you have small kids or are having a party.
It's an absolute home run! This item is easy to use right out of the box, and can be used with any type of household sugar, hard candy or cotton candy sugar (nothing more than colored cane sugar). The cotton candy maker is warmed up and ready to use in 5 minutes, and produces a good amount of cotton candy from each load of candy/sugar. This isn't anything close to the commercial type of machine, but for home use and an occasional party, it's exceptional.
