4 out 5 stars only because I can't comment on durability yet. So far, so good. I found the dimensions to be pretty spot on, despite contrary complaints. Dimensions are from mounting loop to mounting loop, and as described the sides are curved to help make it easier to pull tight. I found the curvature for this sail to be mild - it provides a nice broad shade coverage. The sandy color is pretty accurate to the description. The mounting loops on the corners are very functional and seem quite durable. I haven't had this shade long, but it easily handles the ratcheting force I've put on it to get it taut. It has already shown a bit of mild stretching as it has settled, but that is expected and that is why I deployed a ratcheting mounting system to take up the slack. Mounting is possible by one person and reasonably easy with a bit of forethought. I was able to put it up myself in about 2 hours. It was about 1 hr initial install, with another hour of tweaking and adjusting. With help I could have cut that time to an hour.My mounting system and method:- 20' x 13' Sun Shade- 2 corners mounted to 10' tall metal poles using turnbuckles and carabiners. The poles I used are the metal top-bar poles used for chain link fencing. This is my 'fixed' mounting side - i.e., minimal slack adjustment with just the turnbuckles.- 2 corners mounted to the 4 metal mounts (2 on left, 2 right) screwed into the house siding, using the turnbuckles and a pulley ratcheting system I devised. I used a pulley and ratchet system so I could easily crank on the Sun Shade ropes and get it really taut, and pull in the slack as the shade 'breaks in'. I used the 4 mounts since I needed to drape one side of the shade to help take up more slack - i.e., I really needed a shade about 20' by 10'-11'.So far I'm really happy with the shade and would recommend it - with the caveat that I've only had it a short time and can't speak yet to durability. I also can't comment on durability under winter rain or snow conditions. So far it seems to handle winds just fine. I intend on taking it down over the winter. I'm also really happy with the mounting system I devised. The ratcheting pulley system is really easy to use and works really well to pull in the slack and get the shade taut.
This was larger than I wanted but made it work. Shade sail cools well but is not the advertised color. Described as Grey but is a gold tone. Not a big deal to me but might be important to some. I think it is a bit early to ask about performance but the quality looks good from what I could tell when installing the shade cloth.
This shade is being used in central Florida and has been beat on heavily and constantly by the wind, rain, and bright sun for 15 months as of this writing. It is holding up really well and has exceeded my expectations. It simply does its job. I'm very satisfied with this quality product. I did not give this a "Perfect" rating because nothing in this reality is perfect. Nevertheless, this product deserves an excellent rating in my opinion. Alan C.
