Philips Norelco 9300 Rechargeable Wet & Dry Electric Shaver with Smartclean, Travel Case, Click-On Precision Trimmer, S9311/84

The shave quality is good as I have come to expect on my three previous Norelco shavers. This was the first time I ponied up the cash to get the cleaning base. My expectation was that the cleaning base would remove all hair trimmings from the shaver head and be captured, then thrown away with the monthly base fluid replacement. about 1 month into ownership, I popped the blade head off to take a look and the hair pieces were just caked to the inside. I surprised the amount of hair caked in there allowed the shaver to function properly. Anyway, now I just rinse the hair in the sink myself after each use before using the "cleaning" base.

Norelco 9700 series is unnecessarily complicated. The shaving heads must be "yanked" off to clean. (What was wrong with the previous design?) The liquid cleaning contraption, again, what a mess. The battery life which used to be 2 hours is now 1 hour. Speaking of the battery, you lose 5% power as it just sits overnight. The trimmer that used to be attached is now nothing but a hassle to attach and remove. Now toss in no protective cap and no stand- you can't even buy as accessories. Who thought up these changes? Had to be profit motivated, not customer beneficial. The only positive is the shave itself is still about the same. I have bought only Norelco for 50 years. NO MORE.

If you have thick hair, that grows fast, this shaver is the one for you !!!. All you have to do is stretch your skin when you shave for the first two weeks, and your good to go. The razor does the rest. I still stretch my skin because it's a habit. This razor is really like no other razor you will ever use. This razor is almost like using a straight razor, like your daddy, or Grandpa used to use, that is no joke, it's more of an understatement. This is really an awesome razor, a little pricey, but well worth it. If your on the fence, just pull the trigger on it, you won't be disappointed. Way to go Philips!!! I am a customer for life !!!!!

This is the most user friendly Norelco shaver I have used. I have had two others. The shape has always been easy to hold and with the axial head mount, this is much quicker and easier to use. It is still an electric shaver though and not as close as a blade shave. I have three issues: 1) there is no snap-on shaver head cover to protect the heads. 2) The shaver and the charger will not both fit in the case together. 3) the on- off button is located so that it is too easy to touch while shaving. I turn the shaver off several time every use. I recommend this shaver with the caveat as noted regarding closeness.

I bought this razor to replace an older model. This one, despite claims, does not shave as close as the older model. In additon, the battery does not last as long and does not come with a charging stand. This razor cost much more than my previous one.
