This product is not a good as I thought it would be. It takes an hour just to get to 200 degrees. And the design is horrible. I wheel it out of my garage when I use it. The Screws easily fall out for no reason especially on the wheels. The poor design makes it hard to put the screws back in after putting it together. I'm not sure if I will ever purchase another Pit Boss after this experience
Used the vertical digital smoker 4 times and so far it's worked well. If your using the smaller chips you definitely should soak them first or you'll be putting out small flames every half hour. And buy more chips than you think you need cause it's burns through them fast
My shout out is for customer service. I purchased the 3-Series and while putting it together I mishandled the door and dropped it on the ground, shattering the glass. Customer service said they cannot send the glass but instead would send me a whole new door unit. Told me they would cover this under warranty. New door arrived and it also had broken glass. Notified CS and they sent a new one, no problem. Outstanding customer service from Pit Boss!
So far, I am loving this, I have made marinated chicken quarters (didn't take the pic till after 3 were gone) Blocks of cheese,17 tubes of jalapeno cheddar summer sausage and tomorrow about 12 lbs of Jerky. I cut dowel rods the width of the smoker and replaced the grills with the dowel rods and hang the meat off the dowel rods. its low heat so I don't worry about a fire... if its a big concern...just soak the rods in water for an hour or so. Big thing is to remember to keep water in the water pan if you want to keep things moist or juicy
It's awesome
