I like everything about this detector! Plug it in ... test the detector (push the TEST button) ... silence the eventual alarm ... and now you're 'off and running!' Have a gas dryer? Put a detector in your laundry room. Have gas fireplace in the family room? Put a detector in the family room. Have a gas water heater in the basement? Put a detector in the basement. Oh, and did I happen to mention that this detector is top-rated by Consumers Report? Don't wait any longer ... grab four or five of these detectors for the homestead -- you'll be glad to did!
How do I trust an alarm that sounds of exactly at 9pm every night for one minute. It is a slow to fast beep. The display shows only that the batteries are full. There is nothing in the hard to read instructions about this. My furnace man has never heard of such a thing. I have kept it plugged in, but in the back of my mind I do not trust this alarm. I don't know what else to do no one speaks about this online. So first Alert if you read this you might want to tell people what this means and what I should do to get rid of this annoying beep. My old first alert began to do this at 10pm and we though it meant it was dying, but no this much more expense display model does the same thing like an alarm clock. Very annoyed.
First Alert CO615 Plug-In With Battery Backup Carbon Monoxide Detector With Digital Display is great because: The CO detectors WITH digital display are widely reported by experts to be more accurate than the ones without. It does have battery backup feature, important in power outage. It's well-reviewed on Consumer Reports. It's easy: just plug it in. The price is great; best value I found anywhere. And it's easy to order from Walmart on line, and request free pickup at your local store.
I ordered 2 of these to replace 2 old detectors - one a Kitty and the 2nd a First Alert. The Kitty started chirping and I had to find the Instruction Sheet to see what was happening - end of life chirps - there was no digital display. My old First Alert started chirping 2 weeks later and all I had to do was push the "Test Button" and the digital display showed the word "END." There was no guessing what was happening which I feel is extremely important. That is why I chose the First Alert CO615 - it has a Digital Display. The price was good, free shipping to my home, good instructions & very easy to install - it comes with everything you need including the batteries. There is also a 7-year warranty. I am very satisfied with this purchase.
I bought two of these for my home based on realizing that I didn't have any CO Detectors. Very easy to install--simply plug in! Put batteries in as a back-up and they were working in the electrical outlets but ready for any power outage down the road. I immediately felt that I was making my home safer.
