I bought one of these in March of 2016. All I have done so far is open the box to inspect it and put it in a cupboard as a backup. If the lights go out or you are away from electricity but can still boil water, a Myjo is an essential! My other one, that is showing some wear, has had light to medium usage. Lately it has become the way I make coffee. For me, the Myjo makes coffee that tastes every bit as good as a Keurig machine generated cup. My old Keurig is on the blink so I pulled out the Myjo and now prefer it. I find the process involved in using it very enjoyable! I boil the water using an electric water pot and away I go. Cleaning isn't pleasant, but not bad either. A potential weakness is a rubber bung at the base of the water container that helps control water flow through the pod. It can be easily removed (I guess for cleaning) and therefore lost. Being a soft rubbery material it seems like it might not wear too well either. Sadly, I need to mention the price. In 2016 I paid half of what this cost me now. However, take note the Walmart price for this is in line with other sellers. The price of this is not good if you see it as an inexpensive piece of plastic. However when you consider what this does, how well it does it, and the price of a K-cup coffee maker, having one around is, in my opinion, worth it.
It makes an excellent cup of coffee(VERY comparable to Keurig!) and is fairly easy to use...some may find it difficult to press hard enough to make a cup fast. Possible con: the rubber seal between the reservoir and base could wear out and I cannot see how to easily get a replacement for it...it would be a shame to have a failure of this minor part make the item useless.
I planned to take this on trips because I don't like using hotel coffee makers. I've tried it out with the included reusable filter and it's more difficult to push through than I anticipated. Then I tried it with a pod. It took longer than I thought it would, and the coffee seemed a bit weak at using the largest amount of water, so I will make a smaller cup next time. This would be fine for camping, if I camped, and I may take it when I fly. When I drive I will probably take my small size coffee maker instead of this. We've had a few power outages in the last few months, so it certainly would have come in handy to make myself a cup of coffee. I don't regret getting it, but I won't buy another. This little coffee maker is better than a french press, better than keurig. In above examples water is never hot enough by the time drip coffee is finished. For those who like cream in coffee this is important! True, coffee pods add to landfills. But--not running an elec coffeemaker is a plus. As a camper, I use propane to heat water. WHY did Las Positas Walmart stop carrying My Joe? Bring it back.
My Joe worked very well to make coffee every morning for the summer. Add a Rival Hot Pot and you can make coffee in any hotel room. Got two more when they came up on sale. Should have hot coffee for the rest of my life
