I've owned Amp power Steps for years, this is my fourth set. Great piece of well engineered, long lasting equipment that has never failed me. As I age these steps make using my truck by making it easier to navigate my entry and exiting. My go to supplier is always Real Truck, great prices and fast shipping. High recommend.
Out of the box. They don't work. They don't actually fit without modifications that are not mentioned anywhere in the instructions, but are talked about frequently on forums and in YouTube installation videos (sadly I missed these complaints before purchasing). And they seem to have no stock of replacement parts for either warranty orders or just to buy. Which makes me wonder if they know they're selling something that's defective and they don't make the defective parts anymore.
I found the steps to be of high quality and the fit up to the factory bolts perfectly aligned. The wire harness was a clean install after watching installation video. I am very happy with the product.
Looks and works good, seller needs to take a kit and a 4th Gen 1500 Ram and try to install them themselves. They'll find a few mistakes with the instructions and fight them hitting the pinch welds.
Purchased Powersteps for my new Ram Rebel 1500. Kit is new for this truck, and was back ordered shortly after becoming available to the market. Received after about 6 weeks, no shipping information or status, just showed up on my doorstep one day. Package was pretty beat up, but contents seemed totally fine. I'm super handy, so something like this is not intimidating. The instructions were ok, but not great. Someone with less sense would have had a hard time. Main problems were the instructions were wrong on what wires to tap for sending the door ajar signal to the controller. After some guess and check, finally figured out the right ones. Next, motors were deploying in the wrong direction. . . door opened and steps retract, door close and steps extend. I had to figure out how to take the molex connectors apart at the motor terminal, and reverse polarity. Online searches said this is a common theme for PowerSteps, especially new kits. Finally, the controller only works for a couple of cycles, then stops working all together. I need to unplug and re-plug the OBD2 connection to get it to work again. The app shows the status of the doors as unchanged, so the steps will no longer deploy or retract, except with manual intervention in the app. Who's going to open the app every time they want to use the steps. . . nobody. So here I am still trying to get these things to do the most basic function, let me hop up in my truck a bit easier for almost $2000. Btw I've called and emailed, and haven't gotten any helpful response as of yet, hopefully someone can reach out.
