Had alot of trouble getting the camera to stay on, it kept disconnecting. I finally figured oht the problem was the cord and found one from our old baby monitor that worked with the camera. I tried multiple times to get in touch with the company about the issues i was having and couldn't ever get a response.
We were concerned when we received an email that our baby monitor was being discontinued after less than two years of use. But since Safety 1st offered a free replacement, we were hopeful. Usually when a product is discontinued it is replaced with a better version. That is not the case with this baby monitor! There is no audio unit so the only way we can actually hear what's going on in our baby's room is if we keep the phone/app open all night. If we're sleeping, and our baby wakes up or there is prolonged noise in his room, we can't hear it. We just get a notification which I am positive most parents will sleep right through. Furthermore, the previous model stored snapshots of noice and motion activity for a 24 hour period. This one does not do that unless you purchase additional data. So if something did happen during the night, we can't know unless we pay extra. A new product should have all the previous model's features (what we paid for) and more or at least improve the existing ones— not take them away. We are extremely disappointed and will not be trusting safety 1st's products again or recommend them to friends.
I had the old Safety 1st Baby Monitor. It was fine. It had some issues but a solid B product overall. For our second kid, I bought the Nanit. Great product, don't want to pay for cloud storage A-. The new Safety 1st monitor I was hoping would come in at a B as well but it's a C-. The good news is that some tweaks to the app could fix it. You can't set the sensitivity to the notifications and the camera is super sensitive to noise. It picks up the younger sister crying downstairs when little sister is upstairs sound asleep by the camera with a white noise machine on and a closed door. But there is no sensitivity setting like before for noise. And without subscribing to the cloud storage they want you to buy, no playback. So it's literally constant notification after constant notification while my eldest child is sound asleep…perplexing and annoying. My phone battery drains away as the notifications roll in. There's got to be a better way and fix so I'm hoping Safety 1st does something about it, but right now I would not recommend this camera.
Compared to their last monitor, which a lot of loyal customers had, this one is horrible. Doesn't work properly, for one. Just a money grab for Safety 1st! They're more worried about people buying their add on equipment and connecting it, then their loyal customers. Would NOT recommend! STOP taking the 1 star reviews down!!
I liked the old model better, now you have to pay for recordings and we moved and now the camera will not re connect to my app to view the picture. I have gone through all the steps of making sure it is a 2.4 ghz password protected network & re set multiple times. I do not recommend this product. The picture was good, when it worked.
