Safety 1st - Deluxe Magnetic Locking System (8 locks, 1 key) - White

We got this set since our cats are opening our cabinets banging the doors and crawling on our dishes, in search of food. They work great, but our teen daughter opened the cabinet, then put the key down inside, got her item out and shut the door, with the key, inside. Good thing we got a 2nd set, to have a magnet strong enough to open the cabinet door. I'd recommend to the company, to provide 2 keys with these sets. We can't be the only people this has happened to. I'm ordering a 2nd key, but they're expensive; HALF the price of the entire set. (Seems a bit STEEP, but we need it.) Otherwise, installed correctly, it keeps adults, teens and pets OUT.

They work so great! I love you can turn off and on for when needed. Comes with stickers to make sure your holes are put in the correct spot.

The locks work great. The problem is with the self-stick install template. The peel first side worked as expected. But the second side (where it needs to transfer to the cabinet door) never revealed the sticky part. On all 8 templates, when I peeled the paper it remained stuck to the foam and shredded.

I purchased these as the standard "hook and catch" type childproofing locks were not working for us - toddler is still able to open, kept pinching fingers in drawers/cabinets and was still able to get an arm inside to fish things out... I saw the magnet locks online and thought this would be a great alternative and it so far has been awesome. PROS: 1) Installed them about a month or two ago (pretty easy, just have to use the template and drill some holes), and our toddler horses on the cabinets and drawers constantly and they hold great! 2) The magnet key works well, just be sure to get an extra if you plan to have these locks in more than one room (we have ours in kitchen and both baths) so you can stash them where it's easy for you to grab. 3) It's also nice that I have the option of leaving them in the "unlocked" position so if my kid isn't home I don't have to constantly unlock doors I can just leave them open and then switch them to the lock position before I pick him up. 4) You can't see the lock parts so your cabinets look completely normal and don't scream "yes, we have kids". CONS: 1) A little pricey but you get 8 locks and one key per kit.. so I guess you have to weigh your little one's safety (and your sanity) against the cost. 2) They don't work for all the drawers in our kitchen - if you have all deep drawers it might be alright but we don't and so there's not enough drawer front to house the lock part. In those we had to install the hook and catch type... All in all, the magnet locks are a good product I would definitely recommend.
