This turned out to be the answer to a problem. We bought a cantelevierd umbrella but it was very difficult to move the umbrella around the pool area so that we would be in shade.....well this rolling base works wonderful.
Did the 125 lbs. and it glides easily. Went thru 2 Cosco heavy duty stands and they were junk! Both broke w/in 6 months. Got the dark bronze and looks great. Best on the market!
This base was used by the water and worked great while it lasted. The ability to fill it with bricks at the site of use was great for transporting it to the beach. The wheels were essential for moving it. I only wish it had lasted a few more years. The wheels stopped working and the base cracked causing it to blow over in a mild wind. Can't find anything comparable on the market so will purchase again.
This is the base to get when you don't want to mess around wondering if your free-standing umbrella is going to blow away the next time the wind picks up. The ability to add ballast with bricks, sand, or both to get the weight you need is very practical. We found that a dozen bricks alone was plenty adequate for a 9-ft umbrella. Some assembly, including power-driving 20 or so screws is required, but that's a one-time effort which once done won't need to be repeated. The weighted base rolls easily on its casters, two of which lock. The price may seem a bit high-in fact more than our umbrella!-but it won't once you actually use the product. I'd buy another one without hesitation.
We used the sand and brick method. The sand was brushed into the crevices with a 1 inch paint brush. The base and umbrella are in the middle of a conversation area, so we have no table. I wish they would design a small table (23"" square?) to fit over it. That would allow us to put food or drinks on it.
