I placed this in our kitche/dining area and it works well. The main heat return is located high up on the 10 ft wall so we took a 30 in piece of pvc pipe and placed in the mist dispensing slot, 2 and fourth inch pipe fit perfectly, glued an adapter joint on the end and the mist dispensing cap fit that perfectly, so the mist is now closer to the vent for it to pull in and high enough to disapate the mist as it falls. You must glue the adapter onto the pipe or it will let the moisture run down the pipe...although it simple drained into the opening back into the chamber. We decided it also cut down the output of vapor mist so glue took care of it. This unit is strong enough to keep about a four hundred sq ft area around 50 percent it will drop to 30 if you use it like we have allowing it to flow to other room....and that will drop about 4/5 percent to other rooms. We need a larger unit, say one that dispenses 7 to 9 gallon in 24 hours for 2000 Sq ft. which is what we used for years but hated it because it was so big and had a filter in it....the spout that we made would be wonderful on a bigger unit to be able to get it close to out heating intake and now that we found the Zero Water to filter our water we may purchase the large one. No filter in the unit though! With the filterless unit there is no white dust if you use filtered water. The Zero Water filter (Amazon) takes the water to 0 and does better than the Brita. Keeping the air moist no less than the 40's better at 50 will keep sinus and sore throats away during the months the heat is on.....I have to have it or I get the continuous winter sinus cold.
difficult to replace reservoir when full, unit sticks when trying to remove reservoir, no filter to remove minerals, white dust bad, at 2 gal. per day distilled water not an option, will try additive that I found and see if it helps.
It started very quiet, but after a week it got louder and louder. 4 weeks now, it is so loud that I am going to return it. Also, if the mist level is set high, the mist makes the floor wet -- which doesn't bother me that much because I tried the middle mist level, and it works fine for me, and keeps the floor dry.
purchased this humidifier and it's as good as advertise, read some other reviews liked what I read and know I see and can express that this is a good item, it's quiet, it kicks out good cool mist to humidify a large room. Easy use.
I just plugged mine up a few hours ago, and it already seems to be helping. (I'm not getting shocked every time I touch something now. lol) It took a little longer to get it than I expected, but not too bad. The unit is pretty well made, and it is EXTREMELY quiet. You can't even tell its running unless you turn up the knob to see the mist coming out. It has a nice sized hole in the water tank so cleaning should be fairly easy. So far, I'm pleased with this purchase!
