Swanson Pregnenolone - Super Strength 50 mg 60 Capsules

I take pregnenolone every morning. I follow the Ray Peat diet and this supplement combined with a no grain diet makes me feel wonderful. No brain cloud or fog and my memory is on track. Without it I can't remember names or if I took my pills. Best supplement to keep your brain young and supple.

I bought and used the 10 mg. Swanson pregnenolone and wrote a favorable review. I am not sure how to revise or update my review and if that is even possible, but I wanted to caution others in case they had the same reaction that I did. At first, this supplement in the 10 mg. strength really seemed to help balance out my hormones. But as the weeks or months went on, I noticed that I was "revved up" too much: my blood pressure was up and I was irritable and my periods actually disappeared. I stopped the pregnenolone and my blood pressure went back to normal but my periods have not returned yet and it's been 2 1/2 months. I am very sensitive to supplements and hormones, but in case others are too, I just wanted to write this review to let you know to proceed with caution and preferably, guidance from your doctor or nurse. I think this would be a great supplement for older, post-menopausal women, and I may try it again once I reach that stage. But it is potent and it is to be used with medical guidance and caution.

I have read in Dr. Eric Braverman's book Younger Brain Sharper Mind that this nutrient and DHEA are needed to help us stay sharp as we age. I have been taking one capsule at breakfast and one at lunch for about a month and don't see any marked difference as yet. The lable suggests one a day but that wasn't doing much so I added the extra dose. It may be working subtely and I just don't don't detect it so I'll stick with it for another month. Doesn't hurt and hopefully will help. I also take the DHEA as the doctor suggested.
