[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I decided to replace our traditional metal tube swing set with a more durable product. My wife and I are glad that we did this for our children. Having the slide come with the set was AWESOME! Our yard is a little narrow (due to our garage in the backyard), but with this set being custom, I was able to modify the design to accommodate the yard space. The instructions were easy to understand and I had no issues. Needless to say, our children (6 years old, 4 years old, and 9 months) are thrilled to have a new swing set.....and they got a kick helping me out putting it together too. It took one day to put this together, and I recommend to have one other adult with you to help stabilize some pieces as they are being screwed together. I recommend this product 100%, you will be happy!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] So, I finished building this swingset this weeked, and ultimately it is pretty awesome. The directions could use a lot of work to be more clear and more useful. I am a Mechanical Engineer, and two of my engineering buddies came over to help me build this, and at several points we were very confused. -1 star for unclear directions. Also, -1 star for the holes that connect the slide halves did not line up. They were not ever close, I had to re-drill them all. Also, -1 star for specifying a 5/16" thru hole for a 5/16" bolt. All the carriage bolts had to be pounded through with great difficulty. I finally just started drilling the holes up another size to prevent the struggle. This kit is pretty pricey, and I expected better than the issues above. I would recommend it to a friend, with the above caveats.
We bought this for the swingset I custom made for my kids. For the price of this compared to others, how could we not go with it. It took me a little bit to set the height of the unit, but once that was done, it wasn't too bad. The first part of the slide I hung myself, using a 20' cargo strap to secure the slide piece to the frame of the set. At first, I was very worried because the holes barely even lined up. However once I began to put a few in, they began to fall in place. The following 3 curves I had the help of my wife. The first curve was fine once we installed the first few bolts. I only had to make a couple new holes. The following curve pieces we worked together with one holding in place and the other placing the bolts on. All in all, it took us a little over an hour to put it up. The kids absolutely love it. If you follow the directions and make sure that you set the "opening plate", which is the circle cut out which mounts to the frame prior to the slide being mounted, than you'll have exactly what you wanted, a perfect slide for the kids.
I own a shop that works on ATVs and lawn mowers, so I figured I could assemble this without much trouble. Big mistake. I think I did pretty well, only having to drill two new holes in the whole slide. The trick was to use a large phillips head screwdriver to align the holes, then clamp the two lips down with TWO sets of vise grips, one on each side of the hole. That will make life easier, but admittedly, I was not able to use a washer on the nut side of a few holes. The shipping box was completely destroyed in transit, but I have a good relationship with FedEx because of my business, so they were willing to re-box it and deliver the complete kit. The instructions are quite literally the worst I have ever seen. Step one is on page 8 and step two is on page 3. There is no mention of the frame that you have to build to mount the entrance. I used 45" 2x6s for the horizontals (to fit a 48" platform) and 24" 2x4s for the verticals. Use the included lags to screw the mount plate, slide and wood frame together. Very, very frustrating day but worth it to see the kids enjoying it.
This slide is really awesome especially for the price. We installed it on our playhouse which is higher than 7 feet and it still worked great. A lot of people complained about the holes the holes not lining up...well they do and they don't. Not 100% but if you move it and finesse it a little it's really not a big deal. My husband and I were able to assemble and attach it all while our daughters napped, so about 2 hours. My kids LOVE it. My 2 y/o zooms down it so fast she usually ends up on her butt. I went down it and it felt really sturdy and so did my husband (I'm 135 lbs he's 180) Make sure you read the instructions!
