I purchased this online a little over a week ago. I received it pretty quickly and it was a pretty simple process to get it all up and running. Pros: Quick Setup / Sleek and clean profile / indicator lights make it easy to see signal strength when choosing a location for the unit / its good value for the money / it does exactly what it sets out to do Cons: None so far as I can tell I purchased this because there were areas of my home where my wifi signal just seemed to be having a hard time reaching because of floors / walls / doors etc. I couldn't move my Modem to a better location as it's an older house and not terribly well set up when it comes to outlets and phone jacks for DSL. This has solved my problem but I've had it only for a little while. I'll let you know if it keeps working well after a few months
It not only brought my dead zones upstairs to life but it boosted my original signal as well. I ended up buying one more because i live in a big house so this other one will go in the back of my home so I can hard wire another PC from the TP-Link because the wifi USB adapter isn't the best/strongest. Note: I place one unit upstairs in the center of my home above the stir well, it has 5 bars of signal & brings a stronger wifi to all the bedrooms below, in the garage & in the back master bedroom where we once had trouble with the wifi connection. The other will go in the back of the house so we cab have a stronger wifi connection by the pool. easy to set up, with (wps) & I'm hoping 2 will work over even better then just one. Note: I have 2 other wigets like this from another brand name, but they are strictly used for the security system & not for personnel. So I'm not sure if that secured signal helped with this over all. Just thought I mention that.
I was skeptical about purchasing this product! Let me tell you for 19.99 I haven't dropped not one call!! I have so many more bars on my phone and actually can turn my Wifi off and still get a 3G lite signal! I don't know how this changed the signal and reception without even having Wifi! I live around 7 miles from my city and reception was so poor! In the home only certain places that you could receive a decent signal! I dropped calls all the time! Internet was not as fast as supposed to be and my nearest cell phone tower is 80 miles from my residence but this device changed everything! Easy to set up! Took me a couple of minutes! Only had to push my WPS button on my router after plugging in and find a good spot in my home to plug it in! I tried a few places before finding my right location!! This small device is very strong!! It shows all bars lit up! I am amazed! If you have any doubt about purchasing this device don't! I promise you it really works thank God! It was soo cheap, easy to install, and actually worked beyond anything I've ever seen! Great device!!!!
I bought this item because I wanted to extend my WiFi coverage. I didn't want to spend a lot of money so when I found this I decided to give it a try. I am good with computers and electronics, so I knew it would be easy for me. I picked it up and was going to install it, but I had to take care of some other things around the house first. Later I went to install and couldn't find it where I left it. Turns out my wife who can barely turn on a computer set it up and was using it. It is really is easy to setup just plug it in near the router let it connect enter in your password and it copies everything you need to get started. When all the lights quit flashing unplug it (it remembers all the information) then plug it up where ever you need it to get the best coverage. You can even move it later without setting it up again. just unplug it and put it wherever you need it. The default setting is to use the name of your router, but it also has advanced settings so you can manually set it up and it has a way you can log on using your web browser to change the name or control when the led lights are on or off (night mode) and other settings. This was pretty easy to use also.
My router is located at the extreme end of a fairly large home, and I was periodically having difficulty getting good reception for my smartphone in various locations inside of the home, and even poorer reception on the front porch and back patio that were some distance from the router. I now tend to get very strong reception with the TP-LINK TL-WA850RE N300 Universal WiFi Range Extender throughout the house, and strong reception on the front porch and patio. This product works well for me.
