the TV I bought was Cnet's TV 4k of the year. (in that size 65") all that was expected was exactly what what we received. Bingo!!!! we have had the TV a month now and are still in awe.
We were excited about our 4 k purchase but the picture was no better than the Samsung we were replacing. Our 3d Samsung developed blue lines 3 years after purchase. We thought the Vizio would be an upgrade. We found the smartcast manageable and fairly user friendly One problem was we could not get the picture to show the scores on football games and the picture was blurry. The deal breaker was when I couldn't get any apps to work with Amazon Prime. Vizio needs to address this asap. We returned the TV.
Got it for $988 on Black Friday! Can't beat this 65" local dimming 4K Vizio for that price. Can't give it 5 stars because it does require serious color calibration (found online) to make it look right in dark conditions. Once done it looks phenomenal...but then backlight is not super bright in living room with lots of windows. You can easily switch between "vivid" and "calibrated dark" with remote though. Here's to hoping the OLED's drop in price after the super bowl.
Bought this tv Black Friday online. It sat in box over a month at home before I could set it up. I didn't know what I was missing. What a Great picture and system.
I bought the M65-D0 after much reading of reviews; both user reviews and professional reviews. The set just doesn't live up to its hype. It's a good TV, but not a great one. The Vizio smart cast system works reasonably well, but will not allow streaming of all apps that a normal human would want to use; Amazon video being one of them. I never did succeed in getting the tablet to connect during the normal setup process and had to resort to connecting to the TV by Wifi. It works OK - MOST of the time. But sometimes it won't switch from "casting" back to one of the HDMI inputs and the TV has to be turned off and then back on. Sometimes the tablet disconnects from the TV and you can't control the app any longer, i.e. Netflix. Then you have to restart the tablet. And the lack of the built in TV tuner is a bigger problem than I had anticipated. Vizio Cast does not play well with all networked devices and I am going to have to buy another stand along TV tuner to get local off air TV. Other "smart" tv systems work better, especially LG's "Web OS." I have HDHomerun networked off air TV tuners and the Vizio just won't work with them. While this could be the case with all 4K sets, I find that I am constantly tweaking the picture settings. Some shows are so dark that they can't be watched without increasing brightness and contrast. Others are too bright and have to be dimmed down. Previous sets I have owned (1080p) seem to have automatically compensated for these changes. I would go months without touch ing the picture settings. Then there's the matter of the "High Dynamic Range." Vizio does not tell you this, but the only way you will get HDR is with an HDR capable Blu Ray player. There are 4K HDR videos available on Youtube but the set will not play them with HDR. I also find tht the "upscaling" of the video on older TV shows is poor. Picture extremely grainy and hard to watch. Bottom line, would I buy this again? No. I'd probably by a Samsung or an LG. They have the tuner built in for the loal channels, better smart TV systems and if I don't go for HDR (which I can't watch anyway with the Vizio M series) the price is close to the same.
