i had some old hard drives in the closet I needed to recover data from but didn't want to send the drive to a expensive data recovery company. This device allowed me to quickly and simply attach the drive to the computer USB port and recover ll the data. It works best with the smaller laptop drives because the larger older drives requires use of the included external power supply.
This is a great little piece of gear. I don't know how many times I have needed to retrieve data from the hard drive of a broken machine. With this adapter you can easily access any of the common hard drives after you remove them from the broken machine. If the HD still works you can get your data.
If you've been forced to move to a new PC, and still have working hard drives that you can take old data from, or want a temporary external drive that you can remove when you want to, this device works very well .. I would only suggest a better updated instruction sheet. If you know how to put 'jumpers' on drives, you may discover that you don't need to follow their instructions: that depends on the type of drive and PC you have.

Not bad but could be better, the connectors are not secured good, however if you are carefully connect them it works fine. I do like the fact it does the job, at the same time I think the connector can be fixed with less effort with this price tag.
