What I needed and more

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I needed to replace a 27 yr old Kenmore and I'm so glad I chose this one.The features are what I needed plus it is better organized which helps me to more easily see what I have in the freezer and refrigerator compartments. The LED lighting helps as well. I'm glad I bought this one plus it's from a local small business.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This product is great. The only thing I have a problem with is the water dispenser. When I get ice you have to be real careful moving the glass out to keep from hitting the water actuator . Other than that I am well pleased with it.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Seems mostly good except the freezer door sweats and drips water. Bad seals and/or bad insulation in the door.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Thanks for writing a review about 36-inch Wide Side-by-Side Refrigerator - 25 cu. ft.! As a security measure, please finalize your submission by clicking the link below: Confirm your review submission Thanks again, Whirlpool OK refrigerator I was limited in refrigerator dimensions, so I replaced a 13-year-old side-by-side KitchenAid with this Whirlpool side-by-side. Pros. The fingerprint free finish is very nice (cannot be cleaned using stainless cleaner, I use a clean microfiber cloth) and it's attractive in appearance. The shelves in the door of the refrigerator are adjustable and can accommodate the Gallon milk jugs. There is a deli drawer. The ice and water dispenser in the door work well, but don't remove your glass too quickly or a couple of cubes will continue to spill out. The icemaker container is in the freezer door and is easy to take in and out. There is a can holder in the refrigerator door and the freezer has a pizza box partition. Cons. The refrigerator runs A LOT. Much more than my old side by side and it's louder. The main refrigerator shelves are not adjustable although they are well spaced. The shelves are made of a much thinner plastic material and look like they could crack easily. I added a clear silicone edge guard in hopes of preventing this. I probably would have chosen another refrigerator had I had more space options but if you are limited, it has some better finishes than some others out there. Terrible ice maker

I like most things about this fridge, but the things that are wrong just totally ruin the entire experience. The icemaker is total trash. First of all, ice often gets stuck in the dispenser and melts, causing water to sit in the tray or drip on the floor. But, the worst is that the icemaker constantly freezes up and no longer dispenses ice. The only way to fix is to heat up all around the ice tray with a hair dryer. Its the 2020s! Why can't a reputable many decades old company just engineer a working ice maker? Tons of people have this problem too, so its not unique to me. We have to replace this fridge solely because of this design defect.

Buyer Beware!

I originally reviewed this refrigerator a year ago on 9/29/18, when it was in our house for 24 hrs. This was not the refrigerator I ordered from a local dealer and my husband didn't want to return it because it's “just a refrigerator”. I wanted the water and ice dispenser next to each other, not in front of each other.A year later, I can honestly say this is the worst appliance I have ever owned! We only replace appliances when they break, so unfortunately I'm gonna have to deal with this one for awhile. The shelves on the door are plastic and adjustable, but the glass shelves in the fridge are not. When you open the refrigerator door, hold onto it, because it flops open if you let it go. The ice maker ALWAYS drips water/ice. If you get ice, about 5 minutes later a piece of ice will fall out of the dispenser onto the floor(every time). The catch tray always has water in it. We have actually placed a towel in the catch tray under the water and ice dispenser. The water dispenser in front of the ice dispenser is a big design flaw to me. Depending on the size of the cup, when you try to get ice it will hit the water dispenser spraying water onto the floor. My son won't even use the ice dispenser, he opens the door to get ice( so, what's the purpose of having an ice maker on the outside of the door?) If I had not been at work when this refrigerator was delivered I would never have accepted it. Unfortunately, my husband did not know what refrigerator I had actually ordered. VERY dissatisfied with this refrigerator!!! Should have stood my ground with the hubby and returned it the Monday after it was delivered. The dealer swore this was the one I ordered, even though the one I wanted cost $400.00 more than this one. Wish I had saved the text message to the Local/independent/small dealer, that had the model number of the one I wanted! I don't think I'll ever purchase another whirlpool product. READ all the reviews before you buy this.

Design flaw

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We have have this for about a little over a year. Everything is great except the ice maker inlet channel freezes due to a failed heating element in the freezer door rendering the ice maker useless. The only way to fix it os to replace the door itself. A very common problem. A very poor design flaw. Im surprised they haven't been recalled yet.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I am VERY disappointed with this model. It is very noisy and can be heard loudly running 24/7. At times, It is so loud it can be heard running in the background while the tv is on. Another issue is the water / ice dispenser. It dispenses warm not room temp water. However, more importantly, regardless of the settings, the ice dispenser constantly freezes the cubes together in the canister and cannot dispense cubes for drinks.

Poorly designed ice maker

Reviewed in the USA on 2023-10-10T17:00:00

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We purchased this 3 months from the writing of this review. In that time, the sensor at the top of the ice compartment fell off its mount and is now dangling off the ice tray. At first, the ice maker failed to make much ice. At 3 months, the ice would only be partially frozen when falling into the compartment. It would then freeze the dispenser and cause it to not work. The melting ice subsequently dripped out of the dispenser all over our floor. We filed a claim under warranty and were told "we weren't following the manual" which states the ice tray needs to be emptied EVERY WEEK and washed to prevent this. We were then told by the Whirlpool contracted technician it was because the ice maker wasn't being used enough, so it is clumping. Mind you this problem still happened AFTER we emptied it the first time this occurred with it not even a quarter full. It is used daily. Technician went on to state the sensor at the top fell off because "we let the ice bucket get too full." At no time has this machine produced enough ice for it to get even close to full. Technician then admitted its a poor design and they see this often with this unit. Poor design, poor service from Whirlpool technician. AVOID.
