I have owned this bookshelf for 3 years now and just bought another tonight. It has been through 2 moves with me and has held up every step of the way. The finish is perfect and luckily matches my furniture. The other reviews are correct that the color is a little different when you actually get it in person, i.e. a little darker orange/brown. Took no time at all to set up and I would tell anyone to buy this if they needed a nice bookshelf or knick-nack shelf like I use it for. The new one will be for a bookshelf in my den. Does NOT look cheap in any way, shape, or form, solid wood and sturdy enough to hold several large vases, pictures, albums, and other odds and ends.
I bought this shelf to use in our master bathroom. It fits perfectly in the space. It was easy to put together, and is very sturdy. I spray painted it dark chocolate brown, to go with the other wood in the room. I think that gave it more of a spa look, rather than "mission". We love the result!
This bookcast is my third purchase of Mission Style furniture from WalMart. I am very pleased with the appearance, usefulness, quality, and price of all the pieces that I have. The instructions for assembly are well written to make a relatively easy job of putting it together. I recommend this item to anyone who is thinking of purchasing it.
This product was all I expected. It matches the mission oak coffee table and end table also purchased. Great match.
EXCELLENT! I PURCHASED 2 OF THESE SHELVES TO GO ON EITHER SIDE OF MY FLAT SCREEN TV CONSOLE. I NEEDED TWO TALL, BUT NARROW BOOKCASES, AND THESE FIT THE BILL, THEY'RE BEAUTIFUL. THE MISSION STYLE GOES WITH ANY DECOR. VERY EASY TO PUT TOGETHER. LOVE IT, LOVE IT! GOING TO PURCHASE A COUPLE OF THE WALMART STORAGE BASKETS TO GO ON THE BOTTOM SHELVES! This bookshelf fits in a space between a window and a wall perfectly and matches the three small bookcases in my little bedroom library. Looks nice and is fairly easy to put together although it would have been easier for two people. The finish is more red than anticipated, but still looks good. I'm pleased with the simplistic Mission styling and the sturdiness. I've found the same bookshelves on other sites at a much higher price so I'm satisfied with these purchases.
As stated by other reviewers, the size is not exactly what's listed on the site, but I took that into account when ordering and it suits my needs perfectly. The color matched my living room and the shelf itself is attractive. I was also impressed with how heavy this item is; it's really very strudy. I put it together myslef with no problems at all. The mission line of furniture is a great value.
A very nice piece, especially for the price! Assembly was simple, it is sturdy and very attractive. I bought this thinking it I would use it until I could afford a nicer bookcase, then give it away. But this one so far seems to be a keeper. I plan to order another.
My only problem with this shelf is that papers slip through the sides. I now have arranged it so that papers are only on the insides of each shelf.
I bought this bookshelf realistically, I was not expecting high quality. It looks great once it is put together, and holds everything I needed it to. (movies on bottom 2 shelves and knik knacks on the rest). My only complaint about it is that it does not feel sturdy. The wood glue provided is worthless, so we re-did it using elmers wood glues and it is much more sturdy now. I have received compliments on this item, because as I said, it certainly looks great, but it will rock if you even remove a movie from the shelf.
