This is a great humidifier. It holds alot of water, and it's very easy to fill (you don't have to take it apart to fill it). Another positive is that a very fine mist comes out, and you can't even see it. You don't have to worry about lots of mist getting on the walls. The only downside is that when it's running, the recirculating of the water can sound like a little rain running off the gutters. I am a very light sleeper, so this was too loud for me at night (even on low), but I just ran it during the day, and then turned it off at night.
Purchased two at the same time. Very quiet. One sounds like white noise and the other like a fountain. Both acceptable. Easy to fill and clean. No white dust or moisture on surrounding furniture or floor.
I love this product but I am very disappoint with Walmart. I purchased this product online from walmart. The product was supposed to be new. When I recieved my product the box was tore up and all the packaging that was in the box had been removed. The humidifier was just throw in there in pieces. Very dissappointing.
Since I live the Arizona area which it very dry during both the summer and winter, I have found that the Lasko-3-Gal Recirculating Humidifier is the exact thing that I need to avoid the drying of the skin. Since I am working from home, I can spend most of the day also with less drying of the eyes, etc. The unit is very well constructed and is easy to maintain. For an average apartment, it is just the answer.
I have been using this almost everyday for about four months now and it still works great. It has done wonders for my sinus problems and keeps my bedroom feeling comfortable in hot and cold weather. It's usually running around 10-15 hours a day and I have had no problems with it. It will not leak as long as the top is secure before running. Cleaning is simple, just a quick wipe with a paper towel and a quick rinse of the filter in the sink. I would recommend this to anyone who has nasal congestion or dry skin.
We picked up our Lasko Humidifier at our local store after ordering on-line, and it was an easy process. Setup was quick and easy, but my family complained of the odor of the new plastics and the humid air for a few days. It really never went away, but I recognized it as the same smell of humid air from previous units, just not nearly as strong. The water was disappearing quickly and I never had any of the leaking issues some have stated in their reviews so I know it was working 100%. I never found a use or location for the small clear 3" long rubber piece that was included in the flow/filler chamber area, though. All was going well. However, after a week of flawless operation and humidity improvement noting no shocking of everybody in the house when we brushed or touched something, no more bloody noses for my kids and less dry skin discomfort, I noticed an unwanted side effect. The end of the house that I set the unit in was nearly 10 degrees colder than the other. That fan and the evaporative method it enables just chilled the love right out of me for this great machine. We live in a mobile home that is fairly drafty to begin with and our central heating is always cycling on/off every 1/2 hour to keep it warm. The added cooling of this machine was too much for our comfort and I returned it to exchange for a warm mist humidifier (a great simple Vicks 1 gallon unit). If you live in an overly warm house this is a great product to battle that brick or stone fireplace that pumps up the sauna effect, but in an old or thin house I would recommend going warm mist. We are very happy with that type instead and have the same benefits.
I purchased this humidifier because I have sinus problems at night and my throat and saliva get dry making going to sleep a little uncomfortable. This Lasko humidifier definitely seemed to help with my sleep. The only reason we were about to return was due to the relatively loud noise which my wife couldn't cope with. To compromise, we ended up running it from 5 pm or so until bedtime then turn it off at night. This plan seems to work as well and everybody is happy. The key is to close the bedroom door when operating to feel any effect. Operation of the unit is so simple; just add water as needed. Considering the mode of operation, we fill it once every 2 or 3 days since we only run it for 5 hours or so a day. Adding water from the from the front door is a big advantage specially if the unit is operating. So you don't need to disassemble and take the tank to fill it every time.
When I first got this humidifier, I couldn't believe how great it ran. So quiet, and it really puts out the humidity which we need here in Texas. On the 4th day of operation, I noticed that it was leaking in the front at the rim..and then realized that the sponge that was in the water refill was not there, it had gotten out. So I reput the sponge in the water refill reservoir and made sure the lid was on tight, and now, it is fine. So be sure you keep checking that when you get it put up, other than that, I have no complaints, and it runs like a champ. My lips are now not dry, I am not coughing, and the air just feels better.
This appliance work as it should to put moisture in the air. I ordered some sound proofing tape to damp down the noise. The noise is hardly noticeable during the day but to sleep it is too loud for me. Velcor strips will also absorb noise and can be taped on the inside rim to catch sound waves. It is easy to fill. It is ugly. I also made a cover for it from chair cane. The yard of chair cane covers all but the back filter area. My cover can be removed to clean the appliance.
I guess this humidifier works alright. I live in Colorado where it is super dry in the winter and I do believe that it has been helping, but for some reason I'm not in love with this one. It is not the best quality. I had to readjust a few components so that it worked properly and then you need to be prepared to have the sound of water pouring all night. I like to have white noise when I sleep but this makes a noise like there is a fountain in your room and so far I can't get used to it enough to not worry that my room will be soaked in the morning. It's not a warm humidifier so it actually cools down my room but this is good for me. If you want something that's not too expensive, it works. Would I buy it again? Probably not.
