I'm a proud owner of several 80VS 2 speed reels and just bought another for Bigeye and Bluefin fishing. These things are bad medicine on big tuna when fishing stand up gear.

This was a fathers day gift, with a custom built rod I can use this combo for all types of offshore fishing. Bottom fishing for Grouper and B-liner snapper on the reef, Catching those Big Red Snapper above the structure, or Trolling for King fish, Mahi- Mahi or Wahoo this reel does it all.
I have two of the 70VS's and use them for daytime swordfishing. They are absolutely perfect for that application, and can withstand the abuse that goes along with deploying and retrieving baits in 2000' of water. The drag is exceptional. Super smooth when the fish runs, and the drag presets remain incredibly consistent over time. Over The course of several trips the drag preset may only vary by a pound or two and is easily corrected with a drag scale. Overall I highly recommend these reels for any big game application.
