The ability to easily add a short run after dusk during extreme summer heat was a water saver. While predawn runs occur while sleeping, the evening run had neighbors and myself concerned as water was running down the street from the yard drainage pipes. The use of the cellphone to turn zones on and off with the Rachio App helped locate the culprit zone. Since the leak was underground, it took short runs to pinpoint the exact location. The digging effort was minimal because of Rachio control. A broken threaded 90 was able to be extracted without cutting. Testing could be performed with the Rachio App to check each sprinkler head now that full pressure had been restored to the zone. The precise ability to remotely turn on and off a zone is greatly appreciated and made the repair a one person task without calling for professional assistance. A savings of water and repair costs occur as each zone is easily examined by the homeowner for analysis and improvement.
I have 46,000 sq ft of turf, 6000 sq ft or xeriscape, and 100's of sq ft of flowers and traditional landscaping. All of this is covered by an irrigation system that has two ground wells, 6000 gallons of water storage and booster pumps all controlled by a Rachio Gen 3 controller. I've used several controllers in the past on other systems but this one is far superior and has not problem meeting all my requirements. It's well designed, intuitive and has an excellent mobile app. The installation was super simple and testing each of my zones was really easy. I have more than 30 values on 15 zones and various drip lines. None of this is a problem for the Rachio. I highly recommend this controller.
Exceeded my expectations. Very easy to set up. The ap on my phone actually makes irrigating my lawn fun. Gone are the days when I'm adjusting my sprinkler heads and had to go back and forth into the garage to turn on and off the system. Now I can stay outside and control on my phone.
We had contacted CGL Landscaping to do a Irrigation inspection we knew that our timer was not working to start but CGL still ran a system inspection and had determined that the timer was not working also so they recommended to us a Rachio smart timer and after they installed it they walk through the installation and the program and I was very satisfied with the information they have provided for us I would recommend CGL Landscaping thank you
Love that I can share my system with my landscaper. They can test zones, observe watering conditions and schedule and I get to stay in the know. This is my second system and a must for vacation properties. Here is my dog loving the freshly watered lawn.
I just installed our smart sprinkler controller yesterday and it was a pleasure to install and set up. Very nice design touches throughout, from the magnetic case cover to the easy wire connections that don't require a screwdriver, to the really nice app that guides you step-by-step. Clearly a well refined product. Thoughtful instructions. Installation took about 10 minutes, setup with the app about 10 more. Based on reviews, I feel comfortable using the automated watering schedules it will provide, and based on what it is currently scheduling, it makes sense. Options such as being able to specify specific days of the week to not water, or to have the total time for each zone divided into smaller segments so the water is better absorbed, show the level of lawn expertise behind the device capabilities.

The concept is good and the watering happens on schedule... once you get thru the steps for each valve. So many tabs across the top (faded out and easy to miss) and bottom. It would be easier if the controls for each valve were in one place...description, days, timing, etc. Also, for a California native garden, you're supposed to water one hour for 3 consecutive days then nothing for several weeks. I haven't discovered a calendar option in all these tabs. Still, it's great to be able to control from my phone.
