Using this product has saved me a lot of time. I boil 5 eggs every morning for my kids 5 days a week. This product is so easy to use. It takes me half the time to handle this morning chore. Only negative is one of the rubber legs was missing and it does not sit evenly on the counter.
Easy to use; measure the water in the cup that came with it; pierce the eggs (same cup); put the eggs in; and FORGET IT! It turns off when the eggs are cooked just the way you asked it to do. I love it. When my very old cooker died, I was afraid I wouldn't find one as good--but this one is better. Cook one or two eggs to eat then, soft or hard or in between, or cook a bunch to make deviled eggs, this little cooker is there for you.
I bought this for my mother and she immediately made a whole batch of deviled eggs, said the skins came off like magic. She makes poached eggs with it too. There is a loud buzzer, which she also appreciates, as the a/c can be hard to hear over. She is happy and so am I.
No more cracked eggs or problems peeling them. I get perfectly hard cooked eggs. I have not tried the poacher yet or soft boiled eggs. I wish I would have bought one a long time ago.
Looks good, works very well, West Bend made in the USA (a pleasant surprise). Be sure to grease the egg poachers before dropping the egg in as it sticks and leaves a mess. My large eggs did not overflow. Boiled eggs have worked every time perfectly without piercing. The numbers on the measuring cup for the water were a little confusing at first but I have it figured out now. Be careful not to stick yourself with the pin as it is on the bottom of the measuring container. I like the clear dome top, let's you see what is happening, Easy lift out using the knob on the top of the poacher. Good with the on/off switch, and the buzzer is loud enough to hear from a distance. Fast & efficient shipping from online, even though the product seems to have come from a supplier. So far an excellent product
Being an experienced cook, I was ashamed to admit that I needed an egg cooker. In the high altitude where I live my eggs just weren't cooking correctly, especially the soft-boiled ones. This little egg cooker has no problem with the high altitude and can tell exactly when the eggs are done to perfection. Besides all this, it's a very attractive appliance. I love it!
Saw first on QVC a similar style cooker. After research I found a bit cheaper on this site and shipping to store was free....all about saving some coin. I chose this West Bend model over another although $2 more because of the name brand reputation along with the bonus of 7 eggs over cooking 6 eggs. IT WORKS SUPER! Very accurate and we love the soft boiled. Follow simple instructions and they turn out flawless every time. Very fast....about 10 min or so and we love the buzzer feature so you know when to turn cooker off and not to goof up the eggs. Likely buy a couple for gifts next Christmas.
I replaced a 20 year old West Bend Automatic Egg Cooker. DURABILITY rating is based on my old cooker still functioning well although the non-stick surface is gone. The new one is more stylish though a little on the cute side. Can do poached or boiled egg. Some things I do not like about the new one -- the cooker does not turn off automatically on this one, its buzzer sounds off loudly begging to be turned off. The cord is not disconnectable so storage is a little more cumbersome as you have a cord permanently attached rather than one that can be removed and stored in the cover. The egg piercer - not loving it. Pierce pin is rather large and inset in the bottom of the water measure cup, the old design had the pierce pin in the boiling insert handle. Please read the instructions on the water measuring carefully as it seems incorrect at first. I viewed all the other cookers and stayed with the West Bend because of my experience with it.
This product cooked well. What I didn't like was the buzzer. I didn't even hear it the first time and the second time it sounded like it was dying. I also didn't realize it didn't have automatic shut off. A feature I realized I needed especially after I never heard it the first use.
The timer did not work on the first one I received. I called West Bend, provided the information from the registration card and a new unit was promptly sent from the manufacturer. I think the directions in the instruction brochure are confusing as to the amount of water to add. The customer service representative I spoke with explained "there are a lot of factors to be considered" but clarified the water measurements for poached, soft cooked and hard cooked eggs. The hard cooked eggs turn out beautifully...golden yellow and not a hint of green discoloration. I gave an overall rating of three stars only because of the initial confusion...I think the instructions should be clearer.
