I purchased the GE percolator from Walmart 3 years ago and also brought one for my daughter. They make excellent coffee and now I am buying 1 for another daughter. I see where someone says they only get water and not coffee. Yes it is so good tasteing you want to pour a cup before it is DONE. If you pour before light goes on you get hot water. It makes the best ever coffee. I will never again use the drip coffee makers .
This coffee pot has worked well for my husband and me. We plug it into a timer at night so that we have coffee when we get up. I've noticed that after the pot has been unplugged for a while, and I happen to go and get another cup, the coffee is still very warm. In reference to another reviewer and the lid, you have to make sure that it is locked on; you can do it by putting it on, then turn it until you feel it lock. You can check it by just lifting it up a little to see if it comes off; if not, it's on.
we bought this to replace an 8 cup that had a cracked lid... it's great to have a 10 cup perculator now! this one looks great on the counter however, it is noisier when perking than our old one. I would recommend this to anyone who loves perked coffee. a little noisy but a Great price ! Looks great !!
Much better than expected I rated excellent GE products are generally fine. Also walmart is good. A good mix
Bought this percolator in the summer. It functioned as advertised for three months and then literally could not make a cup of coffee on the first plug-in of the percolator. Nana On cooling for an hour and a second plug-in with the same pot of water it worked. Not a good situation for getting up, making coffee, and going to work. I took it apart yesterday to find that there is no way to raise the cut-off temperature - solid state electrical. So I jiggled this and twisted that and duct taped the pot back together and this morning I got a cup of coffe on first plug-in.
Purchased this about 2 years ago. When it percolates, it's VERY loud. We've tried putting potholders and towels to muffle the noise, but it still is pretty loud. This week, it started making very weak coffee. Since we can't stand the noise, we're going to purchase another one...and it will definitely be another brand!
If I knew then what I know now, I wouldn't have purchased this coffeemaker. In less than a year it has developed TWO problems that make it all but worthless: 1) It will perk the same lenght of time as it always has, but when you pour the coffee, it's just hot water! Then I pour a cup of that heated water back into the basket to make the coffee. I mean, it's like having a drip-maker with more hassle. 2) The cord doesn't stay fit and snug in the pot and doesn't keep a good connection and if I don't notice it, it's turned off and I get a luke warm cup of coffee. Then I have to keep fiddling with it until until it comes back on again. I'm getting ready to trash it and buy another pot. It will NOT be a G.E.!
This Percolator is a big disappointment. I love fresh brewed coffee and wanted a good coffee pot. I haven't had the pot very long and would perk the coffee as usually to find out I only had clear water. It has happened to me several times. I don;t know what the problem is, but I am returning the pot to Wal-Mart today.
We had one of these before this recent purchase. We were pleased with it. However, we do not like our new purchase at all. The top of the basket must not fit correctly because coffee grounds are spilled out each time we perk. We will return this product.
This appliance has a very small washer at the bottom of the stem that collects minerals and is almost impossible to clean. Once enough build up has occurred it still makes the sound of perking but the water no longer makes it up to the basket. Now all I get is hot water, no coffee. I've spend hours trying to get it working with no long lasting success. There is no way I'll ever buy another one of these.
