I'm not sure if its just my unit, but this humidifier didn't work like I expected it to. I bought it because my son had a cold and it was cool mist. But when its on, you can't feel any mist coming out, and definitely can't see any either. I thought it wasn't working and couldn't notice a difference in the humidity at first. But the water reservoir emptied out and the filter had collected things from the water so I knew it was doing something. After running it for a couple of days on the highest setting, I noticed that the air seemed better but couldn't detect any dampness or feel any humidity. I believe this thing is best to run in a nursery because over humidifying a room can be just as bad as it being too dry. I have hard wood floors and live in an old dusty house. I think this thing keeps the room at an optimal humidity level without over doing it. I haven't noticed it mildewing like other humidifiers can- which is probably because of the filter. I also like how the water reservoir is dishwasher safe. The rest of the unit is easy to clean also. Filters can be found at the local walmart store and aren't exspensive. I wash mine before every use and place it back in backwards to how I took it out to prolong the filter life. The noise level isn't obnoxious. Its almost like white noise and some babies will rest better with it. I would recommend running this frequently to keep the humidity level good. But for a cold, if you're looking for something that is pumping out noticeable mist- I would go for something else that's probably cheaper. I wound up buying a different one to use when my son is sick. I can tell off top that this one will last MUCH longer and is more reliable. But the other one stays in the closet and is only used when someone is sick.
We bought this same humidifier 5 years ago when I was pregnant with our first child. It lasted 5 years!! So we bought this product again, once it went out, while it was in our little babies room. Our little one is able to sleep through the night with it on because the white noise. It's a great product and last a long time.
This humidifier works as advertised. It is very simple to use and to clean as well. Those who have written reviews stating that it always leaks apparently do not understand how it works. As long as you have the tank seated properly, it never leaks. The only time it ever leaked for me was when I did not do that. Otherwise, it works great and we have only had to replace the wick filter twice in a year.
I have one of these in my two year old's room and love the fact that it is dual purpose - it also provides a decent amount of white noise, which has been great for helping drown out household noise while he sleeps. Just bought this for my daughter's room and she's sleeping better already!
I had no expectations when I bought this product because I have never had a humidifier. I never noticed a mist coming out but didn't know there was *supposed* to be one. The first night I used it for my daughter who had a stuffy nose, it worked well! I've also been using it for my son who has a cold. The only problem was when I didn't get the cap on tight enough and the water leaked all over the place but that was user error. Otherwise, no problems!
We got this for our shower for our son. We have been using it about 3 months and have found a few things. There is no mist coming from humidifier. Not sure if anything is really coming out. Also if you don't get the top locked in water spills all over the floor. We also just started experiencing a whining noise. I assume it's the motor and we haven't been to get it to stop. So it's going back and we have already purchased a different brand.
Buyer beware...I bought this same humidifier 2 or 3 years ago and now I cannot find filters for it ANYWHERE. It was exactly the same size and shape but had a smaller size filter. I bought this humidifier because I liked that the inside of the water reservoir could be washed easier than other brands and it can go in the dishwasher. It has worked just fine for us but now we cannot find filters for it so the humidifier is suddenly un-usable now that my daughter is sick and really needs it. Now I have to go and buy yet another humidifier. Frustrating to say the least. If Graco is going to sell a product they should make the parts available for it even if the model is changed. If you can't get the filters the whole thing is useless.
Water ran out back. I took it back to the store, was refunded my money for the product but not the shipping.
I bought this for my daughter when she was sick. I brought it home thinking that all i had to do was fill it up and plug it in, I thought it would send water vapor in to the air like all others i have seen in the past. You might as well have a bowl full of water with a sponger and a fan. If you are looking for something to help with a child's cold this is not the product for you. I returned it the next day. I would not recomend this to anyone!
This humidifier was not for us. My daughter is 6 months old and has been waking up at night very stuffy.I figured that Graco (being a great name brand for baby stuff) would prove to be our helpful solution. I was wrong. We got the unit home and although it was pre-assembeled, I found that there are lots of parts to it. Not a huge deal, just an inconvenience. Then there are the filters. Keep in mind these are around $8 each and need to be replaced every month or so ( can we say $96 more bucks a year?). Next, after setting it up I learned that the 'white noise' is super noisey--more like a power fan. My last 'gripe' has to do with the placement of the vent. It is on the front of the machine. The 'mist' goes out and not up---where as going up would be a better placement for a child in a crib. Overall- don't buy it. Save a few bucks and purchase Safety 1st's brand (also at WalMart). It's quite, no filter, mists 'up', and is the perfect size....needless to say this is the one we ended up going with.
