What is because my husband was having trouble starting his gas chainsaw. This was the same size and he was amazed at how well it cuts and how Long it lasts with the battery. We were blessed that we already had the sun Joe leaf blower and the charger and battery that came with it. So we didn’t need to buy that and it works grand.
This 40V Sun Joe 16" chainsaw works as well as my 30-yr-old Poulan 16" that was getting a little long in the tooth, without the fuel hassle and the mess. The first job was to cut down a dead fir tree with an 8" trunk. No problem. Next, I cut up some very large limbs (12" to 18" diameter) on a very large fallen oak tree. After about 2 hours of work, I had a very nice stack of good ready-to-split firewood. The battery was down to about 1/3 remaining. I put the battery on the charger and went to work splitting logs. After another 2 hours, the battery was ready to go back to work, but truthfully, I was ready for a break... Using this chainsaw was a real pleasure.
I took down a 9 inch diameter birch tree about 25 ft tall and bucked it up into 16" logs with ease and plenty of battery power left. The neighbors did not know it was even running, so quiet! It's light so it does not wear you out and the battery placement is an assist to cutting with the balance. I bought a spare battery for my SunJoe snow blower so now I have 2 batteries for each product. Great deal!
Easy to maneuver, very sturdy, clean finish poweful.
I am a middle-aged 6' male and this is my first chainsaw. It is powerful and the battery life (5ah) far exceeds expectations! It made short work of smaller trees and limbs. I had to slow down a bit for the larger trunk (12"-14") and let the saw do the work. It cut through it just fine! I would highly recommend and never consider a gas powered chainsaw, unless you want something to scare kids on Halloween.
I have just used it past weekend for first time, after snow storm damaged a tree in my backyard. This is my first cordless chain saw so I was a bit skeptical how long the battery will last. To my great surprise it is unbelievable it last it entire afternoon on and off, I have cut through 10 inch thick tree multiple cuts all the branches and battery was not empty yet. I have purchase SunJoe hybrid snow blower and cordless leave blower which uses the same battery so I can have a back up. Chain saw is easy to operate, lightweight and produce low volume noise almost sounds like a toy. This is a great chain saw. I would buy it again ... lets see what the future will bring...
This is my first chain saw so I can't compare it to others, but it has plenty of power and the battery lasts quite a while. Adjusting the chain tension is easily done without any tools. With the big battery it is not a light saw but probably no heavier than a gas model.
I was skeptical until I used it. It was easy to assemble and had power to spare. First use so chain was sharp and battery new. I can't say how durable it is but it cut those logs like a hot knife through butter. Wear all PPE, especially safety glasses/goggles and thick gloves just like you would with a gas powered chainsaw. I am impressed!
I bought this saw for the convenience. I was tired of messing with two stroke engines. I love how fast I can always use it. I don’t use it for cutting fire wood. I use it for clean-up and trim work. And most often that involves only a smaller number of branches. But I also used it to cut a 15” black walnut tree. I did have to go slow on this but it cut it. It’s not the most powerful chainsaw, but it works fine for what I need. I would definitely buy it again. The saw is made pretty solidly. Only reason I didn’t give it 5 stars is the power. For 5 stars in my opinion it would need to have a bit more power.
Cuts for about 15 minutes, then battery dies. Takes over two hours to charge.
