We've had a couple of times over the years tripped the GF outlet in the garage because the builders saved a nickel and wired the back deck outlet to the same GF circuit. If someone left the deck outlet cover open and it rained we'd trip the garage GF outlet and the freezer would shut off. The freezer had a high temp alarm beeper, but that only worked if there was power. Bought this thermometer, put the remote inside the (metal enclosed) fridge and put the display in the kitchen which is one floor above the garage. No problem with a signal getting through. Seems to update about once every 30 seconds.
I bought this to use in my car. Wanted to know in and outside of the car. So I put the outside sensor out of the sun near the windshield wiper on the driver side. It is working super. The product was delivered quickly and as advertised. Very satisfied customer. S.G.
There's nothing about this product where they cut any corners. Temperature is very visible, buttons work great and everything is first rate. For temperature, I cannot think of any reason to spend any more then what this sells for.
A great value. Took me a little time to create the proper place to put the remote outside sensor (out of direct sun and rain). Once located and allowed to settle in for a few hours, it does a good job of telling me when to wear my snuggies and when to wear my shorts. --- I've checked it several times against the local weather report and it's right on !
I like the large digits. I like the high/low option! I like the fact that it's good to very low temperatures if you use the right batteries in the outside unit! But beware, the outside unit is not waterproof. It should be completely sheltered from rain or blowing rain. Justin
Bought this thermometer to see how cold my refrigerator and freezer were in my RV. Worked great. Now I do not have to guess if the freezer is cold enough for frozen food. Moved the thermometer outside to check the temp. Very accurate. Thinking of buying additional Acurite thermometers. Best price was at wal-mart.
I use three of these to monitor the temperature in three of my tunnels that I grow vegetables in. They're all placed about 200 feet from the house. Have had no problems with them and they are quite accurate. A good value for the price.
I saw this indoor-outdoor thermometer recommended in an RV magazine. It works in my RV refrigerator. I don't have to keep opening the refrigerator door to check the temp. Digital readout is mounted on the wall (bulkhead) anyway you want. I also use it at home or wherever. Give it some time to adjust to new temps. Read the simple instructions. Buy the batteries when you buy this unit. I got it at Walmart for $9.99.
Set the sensor piece on my porch and the monitor on my night stand, about 40 ft. away. For the first day it worked then it said that the batteries were dead. I changed the batteries in both units with new batteries and the indoor part worked but the sensor and the monitor did not connect anymore.
Not worth the trouble. Never worked, bought eight dollars worth of new batteries thought that might have been the problem.
