I received the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope and won major mom points! My son is 11 and this is right up his alley. He didn't believe that it had a heat seeking ability but when he tried it out for the first time he was blown away. He and his friend were outside till dinner time and didn't want to come in. They even had a contest on who's could launch farther and this one won with some distance to spare.
The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope is a very cool addition to my son's collection of Nerf guns. He is completely impressed with the gun and thinks that the thermal tracker is amazing. It has bolt action to chamber the dart and then it is ready to shoot. My 9yo son loves how far this thing can shoot. It is definitely not a close range gun. This is for long range shooting as it can shoot up to 100 feet. We tried the thermal tracker out in the house and we were able to set it up quickly. My son was almost hysterical when he repeatedly "found" me with the heat tracker!!!!! The directions say the heat tracker works up to 60 feet away. In our house it was more like 40 but that is probably because of clutter in the house. The tracker requires 3 AA batteries that are not included. The scope turns off automatically after 5 mins of non use. It does have an on/off switch for longer storage. The clip holds 10 darts and Nerf darts do work with this gun and clip. The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope actually feels like it weighs less than comparable Nerf guns. The stock actually has a button to push to extend it out 2" for a more comfortable hold. My son likes how easy it is to take the clip out and he LOVES the scope. This is a great gun!
This toy must be one of the most fun we have played with in a long time. The distance the darts is great compared to other guns of this type that I have played with. The gun is large sturdy and can take a good rough playtime session without breaking to pieces. My son loves this gun he has had hours of excitement pretending to hunt zombies and other make-believe creatures. I honestly did not believe that the light would actually be heat seeking at all and was totally astonished when it worked amazingly. Red light when heat source is found green and there is also a blue light we found best used in day time play. This is an awesome gun to play with at night like high tech hide and seek. I do wish that there were noises to enhance the game play of the toy. The gun is super easy to reload and keep on playing. I think another enhancement that would I would like to see with this toy is glowing darts to make night play even better. This is not a toy for small children but is perfect for preteen and teenagers because of its size it is made best for larger hands.
Once in while you come across a toy that will find your interest. I have seen the big-name brands at the store and most of them have their own unique features. The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope is the one that got my attention. The heat-seeking scope feature is cool. I showed the blaster unit to my son and of course, he wanted to play with it the moment I showed it to him. First of all, you wonder how the thermal scope works until you realize that the scope is better used at night or when it is a little cooler outside. You see the thermal scope detect any kind of heat source for easy detection with a pinpoint aim. My son played with the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope and he found everybody hiding. The thermal scope requires three AA batteries to use. Unfortunately, the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope does not come with batteries. Second, the way you arm the action-blaster seems to be too easy and you wonder if there is any power behind the foam dart when you shoot it. To my surprise, the foam darts flew farther than we expect. So it is really not that difficult to arm the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope whenever you are ready to play. The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope is lightweight. It may look bulky and heavy but my 9-year old son can easily hold and shoot it. I like the foam dart cartridge as an ammo holder because it kept the foam darts from falling off when you're running with this action-blaster. We had one action-blaster that only have an open ammo holder and the foam darts kept falling off. Speaking of foam darts, these darts are practically harmless. They do not hurt when you get hit. However, I caution my son or anybody to aim the action-blaster away from eyes. Even though the foam darts are soft, it is better to shoot them away instead of shooting close to people's faces. I tell my son to go target practice with the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope at night to use the cool thermal scope feature. Of course, as expected you will lose foam darts at night. The foam darts are not “glow-in-the-dark” or neon colored so it would be a lot harder to find these foam darts at night. The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope also comes with easy-to-read instructions to properly operate the action-blaster. This gun was pretty cool, even my husband liked it. It has great range for this brand of air guns. It is pretty sturdy, but not excessively so. I feel like it could be a little better made, but it serves its purpose. It's easy to refill, load and shoot. The trigger mechanism (pictured) shows how easy it is to load and fire. The magazine holds up to 10, but my kids have ammo vests to keep extra on hand. It takes your standard foam dart, so it makes a good back up plan for any Nerf war (or great to give out to a guest who may not be so nice with his toys). The scope is a lot of fun, and the kids loved the thermal trackers. The foam darts are sturdy enough to go far, but soft enough not to hurt anyone. It's great to use in "zombie hunting." It's super easy for my 10 year old to use, but even my 5 year old can fire it. However, she cannot load it on her own. Note that because you need to spring load it each time, it can't be rapid fired. All in all, a pretty awesome gift for a kid, or big kid lol.
We really like this well made, yet light weight foam dart gun. The gun is quiet in itself (some have noisy motors), except when actually cocking and firing, so you can sneak up on others. It is easy to hold for smaller hands, though adults may run out of room on the hand grip. So, as a kids toy, it's great. The rear of the stock has a latch which unlocks and extends it out a couple inches further to use it more as a rifle, though smaller children won't need to do that. It is made to be sturdy and is pretty rugged. It features a bolt-action system that is fun, and satisfying, to use. Because of that, the rate of fire is a bit slower than some other dart guns, about one shot per second, though that is certainly fast enough, and the bolt works very reliably. The darts fly very fast -- and up to 100 feet away -- yet are unlikely to hurt anyone if they were to get hit with one. I was glad to see that the gun works with a variety of makers' darts. The heat-seeking scope works well enough for kids to have a lot of fun, especially when they remember to set it beforehand on something cold to begin with, so the contrasting warmer objects (e.g., people) will stand out with a red cross hairs in the scope.
My son was excited to get the Adventure Force Thermal Tracker Bolt Action Blaster with Heat-Seeking Scope. He was even happier after putting the batteries in and checking out the lighted crosshair in the scope. (It takes a very small screwdriver to insert the batteries and get the gun fully functioning.) When I asked him why he liked this nerf gun, he said he likes the scope for shooting accuracy. He also said it shoots with more power, faster and farther than his other nerf guns. So, from a twelve year old's perspective, this nerf gun is a hit!
The quality of this toy it's very good (compared with nerf). My son liked the recharge lever function for the darts and of course the thermal tracker which works very well, he was having blast looking at it. The pressure that the dart it's shot, it's quite very strong so, my son it's going to use it for a homemade target that requires flipping a little board. The gun it's not very heavy and can be extended to a 8-10 year old arms length.
This Thermal Tracker rifle reminds a lot of a Nerf, this one features a bolt-action, single shot, clip fed blasting with thermal and heat-sensing optics attachment (3AA batteries will be needed for it), a cool feature! It took sometime for us to figure out how to shoot and all the featured provided but after studying it a bit, we were able to shoot. The blaster is supposed to shoot up to 100ft, but when we tested it didn't shoot the darts (10 of them, included) so far. Overall a good item with an affordable price.
The Adventure Force Thermal Tracker is developed by Buzz Bee toys for Walmart Adventure Force brand. The toy comes with: the gun, magazine with 10 long distance dart, 1 thermal tracker, 1 heat seeking scope, 1 clip & 1 rail adapter. The package does not include the 3 AA batteries that the heat seeking scope needs. The back of the blaster can be pulled to extend the length. It has a pump grip to shoot it. The thermal scope has to be turned on and you have to set the standard thermal temperature. You set the base temperature with an object that isn't hot, press the set button, it blinks as a signal that the temperature was set. When the scope is in something hotter than the base temperature it will turn red, an object is the same or cooler than the set base temperature turns green. If you don't want to play with the thermal scope, just press the mode button and the scope lights up in blue. The thermal scope has to slide in on the top, and it is very well secured on it. You attach the magazine to the bottom. It says it is designed to shoot up to 100 feet, but I found it that it usually went 10 to 20 feet. It is ok for younger children, not something for teens since the power to the darts doesn't do long distances.
