Great value. Salt has so many uses and indefinite shelf life, why not have it? It is cheap now. There were times it was used as money. You never know. However inspect your cans upon arrival. I ordered a bunch and had one not properly sealed, the salt was streaming out of the gap and several bent at edges, where it may compromise the seal. These are heavy cans and they are rough handled in shipment. Walmart folks were excellent in replacing the damaged cans, many thanks.
huge can of salt and a great price, as usual
This is the best..........comes in a can..........so you don't have to worry about it getting wet or lumps from moisture .................And it's 6 lbs worth of salt...............good for that occasion if you need to store some in your pantry...................
Salt just isn't an item that jumps out at you from the shelves -- forgotten again and again during trips to the store. Who wants to make an extra trip just for that? This is a good, sizable supply at a good price. Won't have to worry about forgetting it again for a long, long time.
Salt is an essential item our bodies need. I'll be storing multiple cans of this. Some I will break down into small packages for every day uses. Excellent product to have on hand.
A1 Service. More than i bargained for. No Complaints here. Thanks Walmart.
At 60, & having severe COPD, I don't travel well, so am stuck at home, with well filtered, strictly climate controlled air to be able to breathe. So I depend on purchasing what I need to survive online & delivered to my home to maintain my independence. I even work at home. When I do have help, it's still a big pain for me to get out & stock up on these items at the market, while strangers stare at me as I'm gasping for air. The round cardboard salt containers in the market, do not hold up well to humidity & dampness either. If I don't stock up & only get just 1 container of those, the salt starts to get lumpy & clumpy by the time I'm halfway through. In summer months, sometimes it's lumpy fresh from the store. I think the humidity or the dampness after they wipe down store shelves penetrates the cardboard. I've seen markets put cardboard & paper food containers on the shelves while they're still wet from them wiping them down with toxic detergents. That's also probably why the bottom 1/4 of the sugar bag is lumpy, & the last of the noodles in the bottom of a box smell like soap. These are air-tight cans & come with a re-useable plastic lid. No more lumps, or worrying about toxins & detergents seeping in from the shelves or anything else getting in my food. When the re-sealable can is empty, I can seal other stuff in them. I store my sugar, noodles & rice in cans like these, that I re-use over & over. When the plastic lids get worn, they can be bought separately. And a big can like this lasts a long time, so I can buy it, & forget about it for quite a while.
The reason I bought this in bulk is to use on my sidewalk cracks to kill / prevent weeds. But I will also use it to refill my salt shaker. Smaller containers of salt are so expensive when compared to this. Glad I found this.
The package displays a typical cardboard salt canister, exactly like the picture on WalMart. However...that is NOT how this is packaged. This is packaged in a #10 can - without any sort of dispensing "spout" that is typical of cardboard salt canisters. So: you'll need some other sort of dispenser (like a salt shaker or [better] spice bottle) to dispense the salt. The good side: - as far as what's available online, it's the cheapest salt from Walmart - cheaper than Morton. - it tastes very good (Some table salts add too much sweetener, such as WalMart brand. This brand claims to add NONE.) - it has a plastic lid that seals fairly tightly so that you CAN keep the salt in the #10 can after opening the can - an absorbing packet is included in the can, which should help to keep the large amount of salt fresh after opening long enough to use it, especially important because - - this is one large container rather than several smaller containers that can be opened one at a time - - salt is "hydroscopic", which means that it absorbs moisture from the air - and as it does so it gets less tasty and tends to clump, preventing even pouring from salt shakers Because salt absorbs moisture, I recommend that you store the salt in several medium-sized plastic (airtight) containers and use only one container at a time.
This did not come from the Walmart warehouse, yet from the company itself. Have ordered one.. badly damaged, so the Walmart folks quickly had another sent, and that one also was dented and damaged. Again.. came from the company, and not a Walmart warehouse.
