Good sturdy buckets and gamma preform as expected.
Gamma Seal lids/buckets are the best thing to store your food with, Buy Mylar bags w/oxygen absorbers and package up your bulk food. Do your research, mylar + buckets = longest/safest possible storage options. In the end...you will wish you used Mylar. This storage system makes for easy access to your food when you are finally ready to use it. When reusing the buckets, the outter ring will not be in the way when you place another Mylar bag inside with your second food product. Mylar bags are 20"x30" and fit a 6 gallon bucket really well, even enough to reseal the bag a second time.
I ordered this set and was so pleased when I unpacked them. They are food quality buckets with the gamma seal tops. These things are really more awesome than you might imagine. When holding dog food, birdseed, or other types of grain they really keep the freshness. When you open the lid the dogs can smell the freshness in the dog food. They come a running as soon as they catch that scent. You don't have to be a prepper to take advantage of thier versatility. I highly recommend them!
I use these buckets and lids to store flour and grains in..I wish that you sold different size buckets.. for smaller storage.. Food stored stays fresh for a long time!!!!! Well worth the purchase....
These buckets with gamma seal lids are a fantastic deal. They are the best way i know to save food. In fact, we're loading them up with survival products "just in case" the big one hits California and giving them to our family and friends this Christmas.
the pails and lids showed up and I just today , 11-2, opened them to wash and use. all the pails were in good shape. however the three blue lids were all cracked in the center. must have been a defect. the Red and White lids are just fine. overall I am happy with the purchase.
I bought these buckets last year in June. I had also bought 5 gallon buckets at Home Depoit. On 5 of 10, 6 gallon buckets the plastic ring portion of the lids split after a few months. The lid is two peace. I just with that someone sold the rings so I wouldn't have to purchase all new lids at this price. The 6 gallon buckets themselves were great but I believe the lids are too small. The lids worked great on the 5 gallon buckets.
Every seal on the "gamma seal" lids was defective. Some had gaps of over two inches. I have a hard time seeing how these could be useful as anything other than mop buckets, they certainly won't serve as airtight containers.
The lids and buckets arrived in fine shape, however, after a few months of just sitting inside the house, 6 of the 10 lids had cracks in the middle. And I have not been able to get any of the lids to fit onto the buckets. The lids appear to be too small. When I tried to get one of the lids on by using a rubber mallet as directed, the lid edge cracked, so they do indeed appear to be too small.
These gamma lids crack in the middle after some time. I bought these in 2011 or 2012. Today I found two lids that were not even attached to a bucket sitting in my temperature controlled basement that had cracks in the center. They seemed to be a good product initially, but with a cracked lid what good are they now?
