It works great, is smooth and doesn't grind the pencil away before sharpening it.
The blades cut so fast you’ll shrink your pencil before you realize it. Hold your pencil lightly, stick it in, wait for about 3 seconds and done!

Work fine, just a little noise.
I had purchased a previous sharpener ( Bostitch) which sharpened the pencils to a nice point but it stopped working after a week and I returned and purchased this one as a replacement. It is noisy and does not sharpen to a point the way I need. I need to insert the pencil several times before it sharpens to a dull tip rather than sharp point. I purchased Bostitch because that has always been a good name in office supplies but I will be looking for another brand to replace this one.
A great balance of performance, features, at a budget price. We are enjoying using it.
