[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It just works. I was disappointed that my wife's HP all in one did not come with a disk drive. This was a great solution. It sits on the base of the all-in-one. I just wish it was also sold in silver and white to match HP's style.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I really like this optical reader/writer! It is way more than I was expecting. I ordered this item separately (from my OMEN) and when it arrived I hurriedly unpacked it. I immediately noticed this drive had two USB cables, each one is about a foot long. How am I going to plug this into my OMEN? Oh well, Plug it into my Notebook. Install the software, get a blu-ray disk, start it up, and I'm watching a movie on my notebook. Whee! Talk about 'instant gratification', I'm hooked. I went back to the information on my new OMEN and found that the HP engineers have put two USB connections on the top of the case. YEA! (This unit will read/write CD, DVD, Blu-Ray, as well as high density [up to 120 GB] discs.)
I'm happy DVD/Blu-Ray player and even though not familiar with Buffalo the DVD player works very well. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I bought this drive when I purchased my HP Envy because I couldn't get a Blu-ray optical drive in it. It works very good but it requires two USB ports to run (one for power and one for data). Since then I have been able to buy a Blu-ray optical drive that I installed. Much happier with that one
Works well. However directions do not offer information on what second USB connection is used for. After looking up Buffalo Product on Youtube info was found that second lead was for extra power, if needed. This should have been in short set up guide. However if this was needed for extra power the second lead was to short of second USB port is on other side of computer. Both ports must be on same side to work. Unless buster buys a USB extension cable. Bad Juju Buffalo.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The product looks good but I've had no chance to use it yet. I bought this thinking I would use it for long term storage of photos and videos but the discs for it are expensive. I'm not sure if I will ever use it, only time will tell.
I bought this a week ago. The few times I used it it worked pretty well. How ever it would serve the product well if it had better instruction or a manual with it.
You need to have a degree in computer science to understand this thing!! I wish that there was something out there that is simple and easy to just create a cd and play a cd!!!
I thought I would be able to use this since it was recommended by an HP specialist, however, it had only USB hookup and the Spectre doesn't have USB ports. So I had to send it back.
I recently purchased the external disk drive and am not at satisfied with. This is because there are not enough external ports to accommodate it. I was not happy with the computer when I bought it and am still not satisfied with it. I bought it for immediate use and got stuck with it. I would not recommend HP.
