Very good iron. It has a good weight to it, just like my mother used to have! Makes my sewing seams nice and crisp.
Very Nice
I like this iron because it is a good basic dry iron. Great for quilters...no holes in the bottom to catch on fabric. Dry irons are hard to find. I definitely recommend this one!
Perfect for applying fusible glue products to fabric for quilting applications. If you do get glue on the iron, it's easier to clean because there aren't any steam holes in the bottom of the iron.
This iron won't glide like a steam iron but it's the best of all the irons I have used. Nothing gets stuck in the holes and you don't have to have it on high to take a wrinkle out of the cotton. If you're a quilter then you need this iron!
The best thing about this iron is that it doesn't have auto shutoff. If you are a sewist you will really appreciate this feature. Secondly, this iron has some weight to it which helps with pressing. Also helpful to sewists. Caution - This iron gets really hot, so be careful not to scorch things based on past iron performance expectations.
Now after buying this iron I remember I did buy the brand years and years ago. Now I remember my 3 complaints about the iron. It does not heat up enough-even set on high. The sole plate has a rough-ish finish to it- the iron drags on some materials vs gliding over the material. And the cord insertion site into the iron body is set at and weird angle- it allows the cord to be bent when you set the iron on its heel and eventually break thru the rubber covering rendering it dangerous to us.
There are very few dry irons available these days. This iron is an excellent iron - a good size and weight for me. I use it for all the piecing I do for quilt tops (whether traditional piecing or paper piecing) using 100 % cotton fabrics. The downfall is that my first iron lasted only 2 years. Then the thermostat went. I have just received my new iron (same iron) and have only had the chance to operate it twice so far. So far so good. I truly do hope the manufacturer has built this one more robustly! Other than the short life span, I find this iron to be a very good choice.
The iron has a brushed bottom. Does not glide over fabric. Previous iron (this model) has a shiny smooth bottom and moved across the fabric easily. Makes your job harder. DO NOT BUY.
The cord wears out really fast leaving exposed wires. The wires popped and a spark put a hole in my ironing board cover. Dangerous! Called company (not Walmart) to let them know and never received a call back
