I bought the new Escort camera attachment designed for some of their high-end radar detectors. It works great and easily attaches to the detector to work together to record what is going on outside your vehicle...it also activates itself in the event of an impact! Escort makes it easy now for its customers to coordinate their detector with a high-end HD camera to protect against police, sheriffs, etc. and threats from other cars and/or people! Escort knocked it out of the park with this tool!!
Always wanted to install a dash cam especially now with all that is going on, With the various options available I wanted something compact and with the M1 size and the ability to connect to my Escort Radar Detector it does not take up allot if windshield restate and does not require an additional cable. And the videos it captures are clean and high resolution.
I purchased a M1 DashCam a little over a year ago. Really came in handy today because I happen to be driving by a store robbery. The get away car shot out right in front of me. Was very easy and fast to pull up the video and text it to the police officers phone. Right there at the scene of the crime. The officer was very grateful because now they know what the car looked liked.
If you own one of the compatible EscortRadar model, M1 cam is a great addition. It is tiny and share the same power cord with the radar detector. Picture quality is good though not great. But it certainly does the job. It claims there is no overheat problem but I have yet to be able to test that yet since the weather isn’t that hot.
I like it, the first time I used it it saved me a ticket. The alarm went off but I didn't see no trooper for seem like forever,as I was about to dismiss it as a false warning there was 2 state troopers sitting under the overpass. Money well spent. ..
This is the second dash cam we purchased. First one mounted on the suction cup mount just like the instructions. Second one won't mount to my rearview mirror stem mount. Even if I changed the mount to a suction cup type the other issue is the power plug is too short. I have an older radar detector with the power plug on the left side. I had to ty-wrap the camera to the top of the detector on the left side.
I love the camera with respect to how it mounts, looks and captures video. The only issue I have is that it will not connect to my phone....unless I turn off the data connection to everything else. In other words put it on airplane mode, then turn Wi Fi back on and it connects fine then. I assume a fix for this is coming so I would not let it stop you.You can always pull the SD card out and watch the video from your pc.
I like the camera and the quality of the video but this should have been designed to be removed with the radar detector when you secure it in your vehicle. The way that this item mounts to the mount, you are forced take the whole thing apart every time you put it away. At least you could have put a retainer on the thumbscrew for the camera side of the mount, when you take the camera down, it is left dangling there, easy to lose.
This should not be connected to the frame. It makes it very difficult to disassemble the camera and radar detector from the frame, to bring in when you shut off the car. I can not leave the entire system plugged in. For one the sun ruined several escort detectors already. Second, thats like leaving $500 on the dash, thinking no one will steal it. It is also a pain to have to log in the app on my phone. There is nothing to have it auto sign in.
Tried setting up M1 with my solo 4. I assumed that the M1 would draw power from the batteries on the Solo4 . I called customer service who told me I need an additional power cord which cost more $. Also, having a cord defeats the purpose of having a solo 4. Just an FYI.
