I love this because the tilapia comes in individual packages . So you can choose how much you want to cook. Quick preparation some lemon pepper , paprika, lemon juice and seasoning is. All you need before you pop it in the oven at 350' for 15 minutes
I have been buying this to the tune of 16 pounds a month for 4 months now. I live the rich taste that I have found that just a little seasoning is needed to bring out fully. I cook it on my George Foreman, with just a dash of garlic salt, and it tastes marvelous. All white and flaky meat in what I have cooked if it isn't you haven't cooked it properly in my opinion. I have only found 5 bones in all that I bought, which is better than what I would have found if I have bought the same amount of pollock in the same amount. You may have find it nearly impossible to open the individual packed filets at the tear notch as I have no worries. The end that has a seal but extra plastic lips past the seal are the easiest way to open these. you grab each side of the open of that extra plastic and pull outwards and the packs open fairly easy.
I am from Baltimore originally, and living in North Carolina possed a problem for getting good seafood. I found the bag Tilapia from Walmart, that are individually wrapped, so you only use what you need. They are meaty portions, so you only need one piece or two if you are really hungry. The flavor of this white fish is comparable to any other white fish on the market. I fry mine, grill it on my Hamilton Beach, or poach it. Needs lots of seasoning to get the best flavor. I used Old Bay seaoning inside of some Zatarains Fish Fry, and it brings the flavor out to the max when frying. It is also very high in protein at 20 grams. I no longer eat fried foods due to Bariatric Surgery, but will be buying this bag of Tilapia faithfully due to the high protein and versatility of use. I will be grilling, baking, or poaching mine, but it is so good, and great eating.
This tilapia is GREAT. Quick and easy to bake and has a great flavor
I love the taste been eating fish my whole life and yeah even frozen it's still good. Found a bone in it due to the fact iv been eating fish my whole life and like to air on the side of what if. Be safe great fish would recommend
Hard for me to rate this, I'm not a fish lover. Actually this doesn't have much taste to me I have to really put on the lemon and the seasonings. Maybe that's the point? It's pretty easy to prepare I like the fact they are individually wrapped. I wish frozen chicken came like that! They aren't very filling but that is just the nature of fish!
I like the idea of individually frozen but all the info on the internet on how these 'fish farms' operate makes me wonder if it is safe to eat. I'd like to know if the FDA is around to inspect the whole processing and if they would pass this product and stand behind it?????
The fish itself tasted great, however I found over 8 pin bones in one single fillet. This is very dangerous and irritating due to the fact that the bag says "boneless and skinless." I could understand maybe one or two bones but 8+ is ridiculous! I won't be purchasing this product again.
I have been buying this product for 6 years and the past two bags I have purchased had bones in every.single.fillet. It's very disheartening considering I often make tilapia and cannot trust my son to eat it without the fear of him choking. It used to be a great product, but I will no longer be buying it.
So, I buy this do myself and my brother and we have been getting it for almost 4 months. I was happy with the product until I found a human hair inside one of the bags that has the fillets. I really just didn't want to consume something that comes out of a place that has no sense of what "clean" means. I am really disappointed and don't recommend this product. Also the color of the fillets in the bag I got is not normal. It's blackish and there is no way I can consume that.
