Old ZUMO began to get darker and darker. Fine at night. New ZUMO fit Harley mount. Still needed to take front off fairing to run the wires. Now looks like it did when it was new. 2010 HD Ultra Classic. So far works great for short trips now. Sturgis next.
I bought one for my new Honda 1100 Rebel and liked it so much I bought another for my new Honda 300 LS dirt bike
Humans are creatures of habits. I've used a Garmin Zumo 660 since Mar, 2010, and was dreading a change. That dread changed to excitement when viewing the slightly larger, and much more readable (in the bright sun) screen. I also like the ability to rotate to a portrait orientation as I ride with heading-up. The touch screen is glove-friendly, and with a bare finger, you just need to be close to the screen surface. Although I'm still experimenting with the features, there are two things I am trying to get: elevation display and changing the track history color from red to blue. Overall, I'm very satisfied with the improvements and the XT's function.
Recently used my Garmin Zumo XT driving around in Long Island NY, Brooklyn, Queens, JFK airport. Roads there are insane, traffic there is insane, my XT got me thru it and paired with Garmin Drive every red light and speed camera was identified, traffic feature worked well also
No big excursions yet but I can't wait! This Zumo is Fantastic!
Wife sits behind me and is astonished. She has never seen a GPS so bright and readable out in the sunlight. I have maybe 5 different Garmin GPS units in truck, car, Harley, boat and this Can Am three wheeler. This is the only one that works with gloves on. It functions like all the others, was easy to transfer my truck waypoints to it and took no extra learning to operate. It offers bluetooth features I will not use as I detest earphones under a helmet. If you like that, this would be your ticket. The bar mount seems sturdy and is easy on and off. Waterproof is a major bonus also. One slight negative is the on/off button is hard to find with gloves on and a bit tricky to use, gloves or not. A larger, raised switch would be appreciated or external wire switch.
Works great but lack of information of traffic even with drive app connected. Move convenient visually than a Mobile phone. Haven't try all feature yet but still not as good as tom tom from ride planning or add-on like showing specific store along you ride. At this price, I will also think the Car Adaptor should have been included. For USB, Can't believe it still the old USB mini and not the more recent type C.
i own a nav5 and was able to check out a zumo xt on a rental bike in ecuador. really nice bright screen. if the spring in the mount doesn't fully lock the unit will be ejected as mine was on those often challenging road surfaces. smashed and recovered from the middle of the road, it still worked. that is amazing. great company and great unit. the mount could use improvement. it will get you where you need to go.
Its a nice little moto-gps. Does what its suppose to, your little icon is a motorcycle so that's neat. I haven't tried it on any longer trips or the adventure slider/offroad setting, but I think it will perform very well, as it does around town. Comes with mount and everything you need. That being said the mount could have a wider range of turns for optimal views.. but it works well enough and there are extra aftermarket attachments if needed. all in all a good product.
I've had this for about a month now. I've used Garmin GPS products for many years, & except for 1 drawback, this one will continue my loyalty. Pros: I love the added features, like the option for a "curvy roads" route, quick access to national parks, historic, & scenic locations. Touchscreen responds to touch while wearing gloves. The problem of seeing the screen during bright daylight has been totally eliminated! Cons: The spoken directions cannot be heard over normal motorcycling sounds (yes, I've turned the volume up all the way). I am very surprised at this drawback, especially considering that my previous Garmin motorcycle GPS (Zumo 660) was at least barely audible.
