I love this blender the only problem that i have with is the color and the Blade is too open it makes difficult to feeding in the cup. I wish that it comes in different color like RED, Silver and Green.............. I am a holistic therapist and i need a blender with a timer like the GE 12-Speed Digital Blender. I had recommend this blender to a lot people and they also love it.
This is the most incredible machine. My kids are always trying to steal it from me. I hope they still make it because I am going to get one for all my kids. just keep it on the power 12 setting for smoothies. push the the drink button and the timer will automatically set for 35 seconds. Hit start and walk away and for 35 seconds. It turns itself off. The motor will slow down on its own to release an air bubble and to allow the big chunks of ice to fall down toward the blades and then it will speed up to finish. This makes for a perfect smoothie in 35 seconds with out having to deflate an air bubble or pulse on and off to get the big ice chunks. Can go wrong - This is one of the best purchases of my life!
I am sorry to read all of the negative reviews on this product. I was given the GE digital blender as a Christmas gift and have used it most days for the last two years. In my opinion it is reasonably priced and user friendly. I mainly use my blender for smoothies and protein shakes. Occasionally if I don't have the bottom piece screwed on tight enough it will start vibrating the unit, but that wasn't a malfunction of the product itself. I love this product and would gladly own another one.
We got this blender primarily to make milkshakes. It worked fine until last night when I put two Klondike bars in at once and it broke. The plastic the cog on bottom of the removable portion snapped in pieces, rendering the blender useless. The motor still works and the bottom part is fine, but with no cog it is now junk. We looked to see if we could replace it with the same blender, and there is not one available (at WalMart) in the State of Oregon. That suggests that it has been recalled, but I'd need to check on the recall noticeboard, and if it was a while ago the notice may have been removed. Overall disappointing, there should have been a electrical safety cut out before the cog broke and there wasn't. Fix the weak cog and you'd have a reasonable blender (at least for milkshakes).
Bought this blender and got to make 3 smoothies and it broke. Retuned it and got another one and that one only made two before it broke. It broke in the same place both time a plastic gear that connects the blender jar to the base/motor. Its junk save your money, time and patience and buy soemthing that will work.
The first blender lasted 3 weeks and failed at the gear below blades. I returned it to try again, this time it only lasted for TWO smoothies. The blender broke at the same place. This blender does NOT do what it says it will do--------MAKE SMOOTHIES. I wouldn't recommend to anyone, poorly made.
From my own experience and the reviews of others Walmart/GE should go back to the drawing board on this blender. It's either over-powered or the blade assembly is constructed of inferior materials. My son bought this blender for me as a Christmas gift. I rarely use it because of the digital display but after recently making a few shakes the blade/base unit broke off. So I'm off to the store today to return it but after reading the other reviewers it looks as if I'll be there again.
I have been through two of these blenders in the past 6 months. The gear underneath the blade broke on both of them. It looks nice and works well when it works but breaks way way way too easily. DO NOT BUY THIS!!!
Failed on 1st use. Smoke came out from the bottom and it died on the spot. RIP, GE. Returned it next day. Alas, it looked promising with pre-programmed speeds, timer, digital display, and sleek button. Very disappointed.
Bought this blender in February 2011 for my wife. Worked great for two weeks. Then, something rattled inside the motor, and it stopped working. Took it back to Walmart and got a replacement. Worked great for one week (3 smoothies). Then, the plastic gear at the bottom of the jar actually broke in half. No way to get a replacement part. Three weeks. Two broken blenders. Hence the title of this review: Cheaply made piece of junk. DO NOT BUY.
