Great solar panel for biking and hiking!

Works great like my larger GZ solar panels, but super light for my bike and hiking!

Not too big, not too small, it's just right!

My wife and I now have four Nomad 50's. They fold up small enough that they are easy to tuck in when we boondock or go to our off-grid cabin. We use three to keep our Yeti fully topped up, and one for our 12v. trailer battery maintainer. I like the rugged construction and the ability to stand them on the ground with the fold out legs, or hang them, or lay them on the windshield of our truck. Very versatile.

I used Goal Zero for a 1,500-mile, 75-day solo canoe and kayak expedition. (PaddleQuest 1500) The equipment performed so well that I upgraded for a recent Everglades circumnavigation expedition. Keeping the Venture 75 on charge all day, even with filtered sunlight gave me the juice necessary to keep navigation, communication and lights topped off. It's good to venture into the wilderness confident in my essential equipment!

It works great for me. Only bad thing is that I have duracell 500 power block and it took a while to find a connector that would fit the power block. Overall. I really like the Nomad 50. It's lightweight and easy to use. Maybe goal zero can make a connector for the duracell block 500.

Works as advertised

Purchased the Nomad 50 in June 2023. Tested it out in the backyard before the trip to the mountains. I learned to keep my device being charged out of the direct sun as it over heated and stopped accepting the charge from the Nomad 50. Once in the mountains, with lessons learned, charging my phone and other items was a breeze. Tip: Make sure you have the correct adaptors/cords you will need to connect to your devices that you want to charge and that they accept the USB connection that comes with the Nomad 50 and test before you go.

Good panels, but they need two things to be great!

The Nomad 200 panels are great, I love how thin they fold to, and the charging is good. Of course like with every solar panel getting the full advertised output requires perfect conditions, but I was getting between 130watts and 170watts while charging. In my book this is a win. There is however two thinks keeping these from being great! The first is a more secure buckle to keep these folded up and the second thing is a nice carrying handle. This would make it nice to carry the panels out to your sunny spot. All in all I like the Nomad 200 solar panels, but would love to see a carrying handle added!

Will it last?

It seems generally OK, but it has no handle or carrying case. The bigger issue is that it doesn't have any foot pads for protection. It's going to be set up on asphalt, concrete or dirt and the outer surface is made of cloth material that I can't imagine will hold up.

I know, the other reviews told me so

Easy to hook up straight out of the box, I will give them that. I am at sea level and charging a Yeti 500x on a fully sunny day in California. 100w Nomad panels, topping out at 55w (per the display on my Yeti 500x). I know, the other reviews told you and me about this already. I got curious, so I pulled out my multi meter. I checked the voltage (DC) at the 8mm output connection on the panels and got a reading of 20.65v, which is within the advertised range. Cool. I then checked the amperage with my multi meter set for DC and got a reading of 3.78 amps. Well you know, I am not an electrician or an electrical engineer or anything, but I am pretty sure 20.65v x 3.78 amps should equal approximately 78 watts. Seems dumb that if the panels can put out that kind of wattage, the manufacturer would want it to show up when you plug it into the “power station” of the same brand. Instead I only see 55w, which seems a bit low, even if there is some drop for the controller in the Yeti. Anyways, I attached pics with my multi meter display visible for reference. Just sucks for the price. But again, the other reviews told me so.

Ineffective

I bought 2 Nomad 200 panels and the cable to chain them together. Put them in bright sunlight for about 5-6 hours. Per Goal Zero's information, this should've been enough time to fully charge my power station. But over 5-6 hours, my battery only increased 7%. Basically, I don't have the ability to recharge my power station from the sun. If power goes down, I've got what's in there, and that's it. Won't buy anything else from Goal Zero.

It has zero power to use anything more than a single lamp or TV. Can’t run a single tool with it.
