this is my go to grocery list item every week. It lasts me about 6 to 10 servings and it's so easy to prepare. Highly recommend for folks who don't have time to meal prep or cook rice
This has been out for the last few weeks.
I use this rice at least once or twice a week. I just made stuffed peppers with it and they were excellent. I do not like the boil in the bag version though it never seems to get tender enough. I have even dumped it out of the bag and prepared it with the same instructions as this boxed version. It does not taste or cook the same. As long as you use the loose boxed brown rice you should enjoy it in just about anything you cook with brown rice. I also sometimes brown it a bit first and it has more of a nutty flavor.
Very good price to yield easy to make quantity of cooked brown rice, healthier than bleached white rice. But cooking time has to be tripled to achieve that ideal firm, but cooked texture. Otherwise, it tastes like crunching rice kernels. However, if cooked too long, especially in microwave, ends of kernels split and taste is leaning to mushy.
I love brown rice and eat it daily but this brand has a LOT of the inedible hull in it. It is very unappetizing to have surprise tough bits in your mouth as you chew. Happens at least every third bite not just once in a blue moon.
Followed directions for stovetop, and it never got tender even after extended time. Rehydrating now AGAIN with chicken stock. We'll see. I think its a bad batch of rice. won't waste my time again.
I asked that you not substitute the rice and it was for a ridiculous price almost 3x what i asked for. i asked not to substitute for that very reason. The price. grrrrrrr.
Chews like rubber and tastes about the same.
I thought I ordered Quinoa like the description says however I got instant brown rice which is what the pic is. definitely not what i wanted I wanted Quinoa like the definition detailed I dont always look at the pic but I always just go by the description.
NOT truly Gluten Free or Safe for Celiac. The label on the box I received says "May contain traces of milk, wheat, and soy."
